Reading Response Logical Framework of the essay An essay must have an introduction, body and conclusion. The has a brief introduction about cancer and how tobacco and sodas are most likely to lead to cancer. The essay has a body and a good conclusion.2. The thesis is about cancer and it is successful because of the support statement and stories given related to cancer causing substances that we consume.3. The title is good since it is appealing. It leaves a question impression to the readers.4.

The opening sentence was enough to grab readers attention since it says, “a basic ingredient in your caramel-colored sodas might give you cancer”. 5. Transition from one sentence to another is not good. The author has not used any connectors and the storyline fails to flow.6. Despite the author quoting companies like McDonalds, the author has failed to quote the original source of information which makes the statements vague. 7. The author uses paragraphs which are short and not well illustrated hence failing to make logical and coherent flow of information to the readers. 8. The author has not used any list or numbers.

The list and the numbers help in systematic arrangement of ideas and prevent mixing of ideas and concept hence helps the readers to digest the information. Ethos1. The introductory section of the excerpt reveals that author is credible by the fact that the author mentions about what we drink. This is incorporating the reader in the storyline. 2. The author does not use any personal experience to support his arguments.3. The has done his research for example, “A Northern California company is recalling more than 8.

7 million pounds of beef products because it processed diseased and unhealthy animals without a full federal inspection. That’s a year’s worth of beef products” (Mark Bittman).4.
