This topic of discussion closely relates to LGBTQ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual, transgender and questioning program) which is one of the most common cultures around the globe. The discussion was quite an interesting one with members of the forum discussing on the sociological, cultural and political history that relates to the gays and lesbian lives in Los Angeles by seasoned historians. Additionally, the Global Academic Network event discussed some of the essential contribution of gay resistance history and political development consciousness.

The theme of the discussion was the important role of the struggle of the lesbian and the gay people’s rights. During the Global Academic Network event, the discussion revolved around some of the challenges and the achievements that the gay and the lesbian individuals went through during the 20th century. Just like Faderman and Timmons book on Gay L.A, the discussion key agenda was to bring the hidden history of lesbianism and gay to light. The Global Academic Network event revealed some of the fascinating multitudes of lives that were termed private, but were destined to turn out public (Faderman, 47).

My experience at the Global Academic Network event was a good one with active participation in the topic. The Global Academic Network event made undisputable case on the need of the city when it comes to the queer history. Additionally, the Global Academic Network event tried to depict some of the fault lines that exist internally among the gay community. In doing this, the event revealed that most of these issues among the gay community have often been disintegrated along class, racial and along the gender lines.

Alternatively, these aspects have showed the capability of coalescing during crisis. Political, cultural and social struggles of gays and lesbians began during the 1880’s (Faderman, 68). During this period, the groups started migrating
