? ID Lecturer Living in the Global Community; what then shall we do? Within the world of present times, it is of essence to know that the problems easily surpass the goodness which exists within its fore. The issues which have made it big in the recent times have included the global poverty, the rise in inflation, falling education standards, terrorism and the unequal distribution of resources across the board. These are very grave problems that need to be solved in an amiable way and quickly as well. What is required now is a vision to set things right and that too with minimal help from the leaders of this world. The community that is spread all over the world has to start thinking seriously what it has to do, and then go about doing the same. These matters bring a level of insecurity to this world because their implications are much higher than one can expect. Further, it is always a desirable act to understand that living in a global community calls for many sacrifices. People need to comprehend where the other person might come up from, what his dispositions are and what the entire society is going through before deducing a statement or forming an opinion. This paper takes a look at just that and finds out how people’s views have shaped up the world in the time and age of today. Considering how people believe in the dictum of bringing in global harmony, the first and foremost thing to notice, analyze and properly understand is that perspectives might not entirely be true. For the people living in North America, these issues might not be that huge because they are lucky to receive many benefits and facilities at the hands of their own governments. These especially include the likes of Canada, Mexico and the superpower nation of the world – the United States of America. What these nations view is that their own perspective is a combined mix of how they experience what their government has to offer to them and do not take into consideration what the rest of the world has to suffer at the hands of global poverty, inadequate allocation of resources, lack of education and health facilities and so on. There is much to learn on the part of the North Americans because their view entails only of their own lives and not the rest of the world. The North Americans are of the opinion that the entire world must listen to them and follow their dictum, which is not a very practical and understandable thing in essence. What these people forget is the fact that they are nearly 1/8th of the entire world’s population and hence cannot rule the nuances of the globe all on their own. One should believe that their view is biased more than anything else as they have long taken this world and its people for granted. Since they are at the zenith of being hailed as the most developed nations in the world, no one can deny the fact that they ought to think as such. For the people living in “low human development” countries this is something of a major problem. This is because the “low human development” countries expect a great deal at the hands of the nations which have made it big within the global landscape but the same does not come about as a result of which there is a global divide amongst nations. The people within such countries are undernourished and not given their due which is a sad anomaly if seen properly within the thick of things. The global bodies like the World Trade Organization (WTO), International Labor Organization (ILO), the World Bank (WB) and other significant trade and educational institutions have a significant role to play within the utilization of resources for the sake of the “low human development” countries because these are suffering on a number of different counts, and now is the time to make amends. The people within such countries feel that they have been hard done by because their rights have been usurped by the countries that have been already developed and are on the pathway to achieve further progress in the future. This is a global anarchic set up in place which needs to be properly understood before moving ahead any further. This shall pave the way for comprehending where the weaknesses exist within the system and what needs to be done to correct the folds of the “low human development” countries as far as the future realms are concerned. The connections that exist between poverty, education and unequal resource distribution more or less suggest the apathy of the countries that are suffering on the same counts. This means that those nations which have these ailments plaguing them have nothing better to seek refuge from and thus earn their natives a sense of happiness and satisfaction from their fore. The lack of proper education at the most basic level means that the country’s future is not secure (Yanagisawa, 2011). This is equally true for its current times where the inhabitants will suffer on a number of different platforms. The need is to understand that basic education is the light that shines the entire nation in the long run. It asks of the people to comprehend the dictum of change and that too in a manner that shall bring in success for them at the end of the day. When there is no education, it will mean that there is poverty amongst the nation’s reins. The people will suffer because they have a complete lack of know-how as to how their lives could be made better and what they could do in essence to make amends. In short, there is absolute anarchy within the state which does not know what it expects out of its own self. Similarly, the unequal resource distribution is a very significant element that comes under the aegis of the “low human development” countries. This is because such nations do not know where to go for their own rights, and what they need to do in order to grab their peculiar share. The three environments of poverty, education and unequal resource distribution have meant that there is a greater global divide than one can think of within this world. The “low human development” countries are immensely suffering and this is the reason why these three environments need to be taken into proper consideration before deciding the fate of this world. In response to the idea coined by Michael Schut and Jim Mulligan, I believe that the two individuals are spot on with regards to their theories. I believe both of these ideas are inherent within our conscience and it is only a matter of time before we come to the realization that the world’s good is dearer to all of us than our individual happiness that we can and do achieve every now and then. This world would essentially be a better place if everyone starts to think that way. This is because each one of us is basically thinking about the entire society rather than our own objectives and end goals. Therefore I think that both Michael Schut and Jim Mulligan are spot-on with their comprehension of the world in general and the people in meticulous. This is because both these gentlemen know for sure that the world will become a better place to live in if its own inhabitants know that they are the custodians at the end of the day. Their ideological thinking patterns need to be such that the collective wellness is ensured and assured. I support the idea that has been raised by these two gentlemen because I opine that the world will surely become a better place if there is a concerted effort to comprehend others’ viewpoints and then go about devising strategies which are for the wellness of the global domains. The reason why I would like to support the ideology of these two gentlemen is because I believe that the world deserves a better change from the stance that has already been adopted by its rulers who are indeed the movers and shakers of the societies that are widespread in this world. There is a need to comprehend the fact that the world is not an individual’s property, rather it comprises of resources and patterns which are for the people of this world; the 7 billion or so inhabitants of this world. What has been suggested by Schut and Mulligan is definitely worth trying. This is because both these gentlemen have not stated anything which is humanly impossible to achieve. The thirst should be there to bring in sanity within the related ranks, and this can only be done when the resources are allocated in an adequate way throughout the reins of this world, when education becomes to top most priority and when poverty is something that is thought of as a unfortunate aspect of the times gone by. However, this will take immense amount of time and hard work on the part of the people of this world, and more so by the ones who are at the helm of affairs within the varied nations’ governments. The implications for the people who would embrace the acts which are characterized by compassion are such that they will be taken in a good hearted way by the rest of the people. They will be seen as the most amiable around because they mean goodness for the sake of all and sundry. When we change the way we act and bring in virtue within our acts and indeed the personalities, then is the time that we are acting in terms of compassion. We thus believe in providing the people with care and comfort, which is only possible if the poverty, education and unequal resource distribution measures are resolved amicably (Schut & Mulligan, 2009). What we need to understand is the fact that the world is a place where people interact with one another and thus this interaction should be one of a positive kind, otherwise there will be no points of advantage for any one. Living in a global community is always an interesting yet enduring exercise because one needs to learn so much from the people around him. If there is no learning taking place, perhaps the element of compassion has gone out somewhere. This would mean that the anarchy might just return, much to the dislike of the people in this world. Nobody appreciates chaos and thus the same happening within the realms of the “low human development” countries is asking for some serious trouble. As far as the future is concerned, the conflicts need to be resolved with sympathy more than anything else. This would mean that the people need to be heard for their problems and thus solutions need to be devised in order to bring about sanity within the related ranks. What is important to know is the fact that these conflicts must not center on the most basic of principles, which are indeed the significant areas where growth and development should be carried out. The poverty regimes come about when there is no importance given to the collective good of the people at large (Mobley, 2011). When the focus is on education, then the matter of pride coming into the equation becomes an important one. This is because in the times much like today, there is a dire need to get acclimatized with the changing norms and routines that are happening on a constant level. Now is the time to make amends for bringing in and harnessing true value for the sake of the future generations that will come after us. These conflicts are nothing else but petty matters which must be done away with so that the world becomes a better place to live in, and to encourage the people to positively interact and communicate with one another. This builds up the strengths in the long run and allows for a global good – an omen that is sure to tie in benefits at the end of the day. References Mobley, W., 2011.
