Scientifically, pollution can be defined as “the introduction of contaminants into an environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms”. (As cited in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollution). You need not even move out of your house to learn this fact. You breathe smoke even at your home as a cigarette or from the combustion of fuel. Your vehicle exhales smoke wherever you take it to. The dust around brings in water from your nose and eyes.

You get affected by asthma or some other chronic breathing disorder. You see fishes dying out of the chemical toxins in the water. The factories show you a black sky. You close your nose tight when you move close to a dumping ground and the funniest part is, after seeing all this, you dump your household waste to the roadside. Your contribution to the pollution side is a hundred percent while you are least bothered about cleaning your locality except for your household. If the situation continues the same way, you are expected to live in a landfill sort of place in no greater than a few years.

Environment pollution is an octopus catch. If you give a beginning to it, you will never get rid of it and will have to face all the bad results that the phenomenon carries.Though we learn about pollution right from the pre-primary classes, we know nothing more than the printed letters in the ecology textbooks. The practical side of prevention and control of pollution is yet to be learnt and understood. This is not a problem with the underdeveloped or developing nations but also with the developed countries that are not taking enough moves towards fighting this menace, which ruins the lives of future generations as well.
