sOCIAL ACTION PLAN ON CREATION SOCIAL INCLUSIVE SOCIETY- Green operation group Student’s Name: Instructor’s Name: Course Code & Name: Date of Submission: (2042 WORDS) BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Green Operation Group-NGO (GOG) would like to create awareness and stimulate the communities, corporate and governments to adopt an inclusive society. The creation of an inclusive society that does not discriminate individual because of disability or color or gender or ethnic group is crucial in developing healthy relationship between citizens or employees and relevant governing bodies. Discrimination is imminent in almost all the regions across the world. The exclusion from the society results to most adverse effect to the society and the individual discriminated. These effects include insecurity due to unemployment since individual will resort to violence when he/she does not secure employment. Secondly, this social action plan is motivated by the discrimination victim suffering from HIV/Aids faces in the society which is greatly dealt with by GOG. There are countries or communities which do not have information about this disease therefore, they exclude those affected. The exclusion results to suicide and depression which impact on society well-being. According to studies carried out by avert, HIV victims faces various forms of discrimination. Government discrimination, they discriminate victims through improper legislation that aims to stigmatize HIV victims or increase the spread of the disease. According to the findings of UNAIDS report (2012), 49% percent of the world countries do have legislation that discriminate those people living with HIV/Aids. For example, UK passed legislation that persecutes one for infecting someone else even without their intent. Ugandan governments also do not allow anyone with HIV/Aids to join military. The forms of discrimination government have are reciprocated to the society which breeds exclusive society that declares others ‘misfit’ in the society. The exclusion of the disable person will be addressed in the social action plan since the community has greatly excluded the blind, cripple, deaf and albinos. The government, community and corporate have played major role in various forms of discrimination. In addition, public service vehicles do not have seats meant for the disable making their movement difficult. The common example is Kenyan Government which tried to pass public transport legislation that considered modification of PSV vehicles to accommodate at least one modified seat for the disable. The bill was not implemented due to lack of concern by the legislators thus showing lack of concern by those in government to support disable in the society. Failure to address the issues of discrimination in the society will bring adverse effects to the community and government in long-term. The increase of insecurity will affect the country economy since investors will fear losing their lives and investments through theft. The other issue includes high mortality rate and high government expenditure on medication of the depressed. The community will be losing intellectuals who are disable individuals. Studies show that most countries in Africa and Asia do not take disable children to school due to shame or inconvenience caused by lack of wheelchairs or brail machines for the blind. Lack of access to education might lead to lose of unutilized intellect within the discriminated disabled persons. The social action plan of GOG will help create a society that is inclusive both within the country and other countries worldwide. The group was created for activism purpose where we campaign for the rights that are inclusive and campaigning any form of discrimination such as corruption. The social Action Plan is therefore aligned to our articles and memorandum of association. Objective 1: Creation of awareness on forms of discrimination in the society Action Plan The creation of awareness on forms of discrimination is crucial. The awareness enables individuals in the society fight the problem in the society since we cannot fight something that we are not aware of. The solution of every problem in general life experience requires more time in learning it in order to ease effort that is required to solve it. Therefore, GOG will create awareness on forms of discrimination which includes racial, gender, HIV/Aids victims, disables and other forms of discrimination in the following ways; Creating social events such as cinema, sports and debates where individuals will be issued with entry cards outlining various forms of discrimination. Creating group or platform on social media where GOG can enlighten its followers Publishing journals, magazines and buying column in one of the popular daily newspaper where GOG can enlighten public. Sticking posters in major notice boards which are normally busy. The Group will seek consent from various institutions to use their notice boards. Anticipated Outcome The society will be enlightened on forms of discrimination. The discrimination can be direct or indirect and it is practiced in family level, community level and global level. The understanding on all forms of discrimination will enable individual condemn or avoid being agents of discrimination in the society. The society will therefore, start appreciating diversity in the society thus leading to creation of an inclusive society. Timeline and resources required The campaign is required to run for two months and continuing for a year or two given that will have enough finance. The groups have finance to run the campaign for two months meanwhile we are looking for other sources which includes selling of tickets to movies and participation fee for events organized. Key Risk The key risk associated to the action plan considered to achieve the objective includes; Littering of the environment with GOG cards issued to the participants in sports or those attending cinema organized by GOG. The littering will attract sanctions from the local authorities and institution. The publishing of the newspaper is expensive and might strain the group’s financial resource. The individual publishing might run out of ideas leading to waste of resources. Evaluation The action plan will be evaluated by carrying out surveys by use of questionnaires and interviews. The questions will be based on asking respondents if they are aware of discriminative actions in the society and list them if they are aware. The survey will be carried out before and after implementation. The more response on types of discrimination than survey before implementation will be a positive feedback on effect of the action plan. Objective 2: Helping organization and government in formulation and implementation of social inclusive policies Action Plan The major agents of spreading or campaigning against discrimination are government and organizations. The government has a greater role in regulating or creating path that community should follow in order to achieve balance in political, social and economic pillar of the society. On the other hand, organizations have direct contact with the community in provision of goods and services. Therefore, GOG will look into the following avenues in ensuring that policies created by these agents are socially inclusive; Working closely with at least two legislatures by helping them draft bills regarding discrimination. Writing proposal to corporate on corporate social responsibility that they need to adopt or in collaboration with GOG. Anticipated Outcome GOG expects that the government will adopt some of the policies formulated with help of the respective legislators. Adoption of these policies will bring the discriminated back to the society and give GOG chance to give more insight since it is government legislation. In addition, corporate will adopt CSR that inclines to excluded individuals. CSR project will include buying of wheelchairs for disable children and making donation of brails within Australian continent, Africa and Asia. Consideration of the strategies by the major players will be great breakthrough for the group in creation of inclusive society. Time line and resources required The action plan will be carried out for five years but evaluated yearly in order to measure impact. The resource that will be required to run this project will be limited since the group will need to sacrifice time and little finance to make calls and emails. Key risk The implementation of the above is faced with some risk that might limit its success. These risks include; The group might face legal sanction since involving legislators to the functions of the group might raise question if the group does what is outlined in the memorandum of association. The corporate mostly domestic might refuse to adopt GOG proposals given that they involve CSR within Australia and other continents. However, international business will not be affected. Evaluation The evaluation of the action plan implemented in achieving the set objective will be based on the number of policies implemented either directly or indirectly. The target will be set against which actual results will be measured against. Objective 3: Rehabilitation of stigmatized individuals Action Plan The individuals excluded by the society require close attention in order to rebuild their confidence and self-respect. The rehabilitation can be done to sexually abused, HIV/Aids victims and disables neglected. GOG will implement the following action plan; Ensuring that each member interact with at least 3 new disabled persons every day. Creating awareness to those infected with HIV/Aids that they can leave just like normal people. This can be carried out via internet or field work. Ensuring that confidential information are protected in health institutions in order to reduce stigma. Anticipated Outcome The improvement of confidence for the stigmatized individuals will improve their self-esteem which is essential in interacting with the rest of the community. The contribution by the excluded persons to the community issues will increase their necessity in various issues facing the community. Therefore, achievement of a socially inclusive society that is void of any form of discrimination. Timeline and resources required The auction plan will run for one year. The members will be required to go to the field every weekend and do follow-ups for the rehabilitated individuals. The major resources required are time and finance both from the group and individually. The finance present will be complimented with money received from donors and well wishers. Key risk The action plan faces legislation risk since identification of the infected person might raise concern on how the group obtained such information. In addition, some of the excluded persons in the society are hostile thus increasing risk of carrying out field projects. Evaluation The action plan will be evaluated in two ways; Feedback from rehabilitated persons within the period of action plan. Improvements in individuals’ self-worth will be a breakthrough in achievement of the set objective. The target members are given is met within the required time. Adherence and achievement by 90% of the members will be a success. Objective 4: Creation of Global campaign Action Plan GOG aims at organizing a global campaign against stigmatization. The campaign is focused to brining organizations, governments and corporate across the globe. The achievements in gathering nations for one goal, creation of an inclusive society will depend on the following steps; Communicating with United Nation, World Health Organization and other players across the globe via mails for their contribution towards the drive. Creating forums on our websites and social network in order to inform public. Sponsoring some members to other countries to carryout talks with major stakeholders. Anticipated Outcome The success of the campaign will be a great breakthrough in achievement of the objectives of this social action plan. The awareness created will ensure that not only the individuals within Victoria benefits from the project but also those in other nations. Time line and resources required The major time consuming part of the objective is gathering nations together for one common purpose. Therefore, the project will be organized for eleven months and campaign will last for one day. The campaign will require a lot of finance and therefore, we consider looking for donors to finance. Key risk The key risks faced in the implementation of the above action plan include; Breach of government laws since the campaign will cut across various countries having different political and governance ideologies. The campaign might be against cultural norms of the community. For example, disable in some of African cultures are considered outcast thus campaigns might lead to more prosecution. Evaluation The action plan will be evaluated in two ways. The participation towards the campaign will be group’s first aspect to be considered, acceptance by 90% of worlds countries will be a success.
