Black-Veterane for Social Justice (BVSJ) is one of the condom distributors in Brooklyn (Bedford-Stuyvesant), New York. The access to this condom distributor was very easy; it is among the condom distributors that are found by searching the location of the condom distributor in one’s village or town through via aid of the “CONDOMFINDER” site. Additionally, BVSJ Condom distributor is located on one of the renowned streets referred to as Throop Ave. Finding condoms in Bedford-Stuyvesant is also very easy.

This is evidenced by the fact that condoms are distributed by the BVSJ in barber shops, beauty salons as well as lock shops. The choice of these outlets correlates with the high visit of condom users for their respective services. The employees of BVSJ constitute of men and women who are very humble; they easily interrelate with the community men and women veterans. The primary objective of BVSJ to provide “tender loving care and a listening ear” is evidenced by the assistance they offer to all residents of the community.

Apart from providing free condoms, BVSJ also provides users with lubricants. The location of BVSJ on Throop Ave Street and its association with barber and beauty shops contributes significantly to the increase in the rate of condom usage (“Black Veterans for Social Justice” 1). This is evidenced by the fact that youths love visiting such shops. The managers of the shops access the condoms from BVSJ and sell them to youths and school children who access their services. Youths access condoms from BVSJ more comfortably compared to adults.

This is as a result of the youths being sexually active. It is also evident that youths are not tied to particular relationships; most youths have multiple relationships, and as a result of this, they are not answerable to any person regarding their purchase of condoms. The peer influence also contributes significantly to youths’ comfortable access to condoms from such an institution. In most occasions, youths encourage each other through frequent jokes regarding the use of condoms. In connection with this assertion, it is evident that adults will be least comfortable in accessing condoms from this location.

This is as a result of them not only shying off because of being tied to specific relationships, but also because of being answerable to specific persons on the reasons for purchasing condoms. Additionally, it is evident that students from nearby high schools such as Bedford-Stuyvesant Preparatory High School will feel least comfortable in accessing condoms from the condom distributor because of their age as well as the public perception regarding playing sex. Often, sex is considered as a practice for the adults making access to condoms by high school students difficult.

The purchase of contraceptives from BVSJ is associated with the occurrence of shame. This is evidenced by the fact that the condoms and other sexual products are placed on open shelves for the customers to see them easily and make their selection. The advertisement of the condoms through placing them in the public place makes the user think about the possibility of somebody watching them when making their purchases. The location of the store for the condoms on the Throop street exposes the purchasers of the condoms to other people using the street, and as a result of this, many people feel ashamed of buying condoms.
