Amphetamines have the ability to increase attention and alertness for a short term period. The abuse of Amphetamines may feel confidence and energy for a short term period. However, in the long term, it may cause severe mental problems such as depression, anxiety, restlessness, hallucinations etc. “Taking large amounts of amphetamines, especially over a short space of time, can lead to marked psychological problems, especially a sense of panic and paranoia and extreme exhaustion”. The effects of Amphetamines are more on people with disordered personality and mental diseases.

In other words, it has the ability to stimulate psychotic reactions which may finally end up in severe mental disorders. Cocaine is another commonly misused drug. It usually comes in powder form which can be snorted, smoked and injected. As in the case of many other psychoactive drugs, cocaine also has the ability to make a person energetic and confident for a short period of time. Cocaine has the uncanny ability to stimulate nervous system. Cocaine abusers get high energy, alertness, happiness instantly which made this drug one of the most commonly abused psychoactive drug in the world.

However, regular use of cocaine may create psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and paranoia. The article, The Hard facts about drugs pointed out that “Confusion and aggressive behavior may develop, and some people may be prone to violent behavior requiring restraint and detention because of regular cocaine use”.. Cocaine has the uncanny ability to stimulate nervous system. Cocaine abusers get high energy, alertness, happiness instantly which made this drug one of the most commonly abused psychoactive drug in the world.

However, regular use of cocaine may create psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and paranoia. The correlation of cocaine use with aggressive behaviours among abusers is well documented by different studies. The article, The Hard facts about drugs pointed out that “Confusion and aggressive behaviour may develop, and some people may be prone to violent behaviour requiring restraint and detention because of regular cocaine use” (The Hard facts about drugs). Cocaine also has the ability to affect brain functioning and in people with defective personalities, it may generate even suicide tendency.

Paranoid delusions, hallucinations, anxiety, hyperactivity and agitation are other commonly observed psychological problems among cocaine users. “Mephedrone usually comes as a white powder, crystals or capsules. It is also available in pill form. Anecdotal reports indicate that it is most commonly sold as a powder with a yellowish tinge” (Mephedrone Facts). It is usually snorted, injected or swallowed. Even though there have been lack of formal studies with respect to the effects of this drug on psyche, many hypothesises are there about the abilities of this drug to increase the levels of dopamine and serotonin and in the brain, and thereby stimulating over activity.
