THE SIGNIFICANT ROLE OF THE RADIATION CONCEPT PIONEERS By Location The significant role of the radiation concept pioneers on the radiation history effects Abstract This is a research paper that was aimed at reviewing the role that the radiation concept pioneers had in the history of radiation. The paper has an introduction part which starts with the definition of radiation as the process through which energy is emitted in the form of waves or particles. The introduction part also asserts that it is from the concepts that were first discovered by the pioneers that the other discoveries came. After the introductory part, the paper reviews work that were done by radioactivity pioneers. Wilhelm Roentgen is introduced as the brain that was behind the discovery of X-ray. The paper also reveals the contribution of Heinrich Hertz to the history of radioactivity through the discovery the presence of radio waves. However, it was Henri Becquerel, who conducted further studies on the beneficial effects of radioactive waves. The paper reveals that the work of the two scientists led to the discovery of the possible uses of radioactivity. Madame Curie is credited for having carried out researches that led to the discovery of more uses of radioactivity (Knoll 2010, p. 99). The paper also reveals the contribution of Thomas A. Edison about the use of the most effective calcium tungstate-based option in the radiation process. Hal Gray is credited for having discovered the health-related use of radioactive waves while Herman Muller was the scientist who is credited for the discovery of the fact that radiation directly contributed the production of new genetic traits. Introduction Radiation refers to the process through which energy is emitted in the form of waves or particles. Radiation pioneers played a very important role in radiation history effects. Scientists started making the first discoveries about radiation and atomic structures in the 19th century. A scientist by the name Wilhem Conrad Roentgen is credited for the discovery of the basic properties of X-rays. Henri Becquerel was the one who first discovers radioactivity. All these discoveries and studies had a significant effect in the history of radioactivity. From the ideas that the pioneers discovered, other scientists are able to discover more about the use of radioactivity. In comparing the understanding of the concept of radioactivity during the 19th century, and the understanding of the same currently, it is evident that there is a significant improvement in the understanding and application of radioactivity in various fields. However, it will also be important to acknowledge the fact that pioneers of radioactivity are of much importance than many people might think. For instance, they were the people who made it necessary for the other scientists to carry out more studies on radioactivity and their effects and causes. When Wilhem Conrad Roentgen first discovered the basic properties of X-ray many science scholars wanted to know more about the effects of X-ray. Even when Henri Becquerel revealed the discovery of radioactivity other scientists used the basic concepts about radioactivity that were presented by Henri Becquerel. It can be said that the pioneers presented the foundation for the concept of radioactivity that led to more discoveries about radioactivity. The effects of leakage radiation from x-ray tube and patient to radiographers Abstract This paper reviews the effects of leakage radiation from x-ray tube and patient to radiographers. It begins with an introduction which asserts that exposure to radioactive waves might lead to numerous health complication and asserts that this is what necessitates the various safety precautions that are always taken. The introduction also asserts that knowledge of the effects of effects of leakage radiation from x-ray tube and patient to radiographers is essential in the process of taking precautionary actions. The paper reveals that X-ray leakage might occur when the x-ray beams exceed the 100 m$ in 1 h at a distance of 1 m from the point of the x-ray tube focus. The paper reveals that the leaked x-ray’s directly hitting the patient will trigger the immediate death of the affected body tissues. Somatic ill effects of being directly hit by the leaked x-rays can also harm the radiographer. The paper also asserts that exposure to leaked x-ray might imply certain parts of the human body will develop ill effects from x-ray beams (Campeau& Fleitz 2010, p. 201). If the x-ray emissions hit the radiographer’s body, the radiographer may suffer from sometimes excruciating abdominal pain. With regard to the effects of leakage radiation from x-ray tube and patient to radiographers, the paper asserts that there are some precautionary actions that must be taken. For instance, When taking the patients’ x-ray picture, the radiographer must stay 1.5 meters away from the x-ray machine (Statkiewicz-Sherer, et al 2014, P. 123). The X-ray tube should also be well positioned. The radiographer must also strive to stay away from the x-ray ingredients. Introduction In cases where there is an improper management of X-ray equipment the possibility of a radioactive leakage is increased. One thing that is sure is that radiation leakage is not in any way good for radiographers. Only patients should be exposed to these rays as they might have negative effects on the cells of those people who do not have health complications that do not require the radiation. Exposure to a certain amount of radioactive waves can lead to certain health complications to radiographers. One indisputable argument is that the level of effect brought about by exposure to radioactive waves depends on a higher magnitude on the intensity of the radioactive wave and the period of exposure. In both situations, it is essential to note that the seriousness of the effect is directly proportional to the two variables. The effects that radioactive waves can have on radiographer are explained by the level to which these individuals are always protected from the waves. In healthcare, facilities where there are X-ray equipment, it is evident that all precautions are taken with the aim of ensuring that the possibility of there being any leakages from the x-ray tubes are minimized. One indisputable thing is that the knowledge of the effects might be important in avoiding all the possible health complications that might result from being exposed to radioactive waves.
