The focus on nutrition is growing day by day. This is due to the reason that almost in all parts of the world health issues are considered as serious matters. Some of the health issues such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases are most commonly identified among many people in all parts of the world. While analysing what could be the underlying reason with the help of physicians and dieticians, it was realised that food plays a major role in determining the health outcomes of an individual. While this keeps running on one side, many Physicians and dieticians have been doing a lot of experiments to spread the awareness among people on nutrition, balanced diet, and eating habits, and the health out comes that are related to the three, if they are not maintained properly. Most of the people who suffer form these common health issues are often advised by their Doctors in such a way that either they are restricted form eating many food varieties or they give less work for their tasting sense. As a result to many of them eating has becomes a controlled activity without interest. Many Doctors and dieticians have published books on diet controlling, tips to maintain good health etc. Some of the best selling among them are “Dr.Atkins.s Quick and Easy New Diet Cook Book”[ a companion to Dr.Atkins’New Diet Revolution”], and “Diets for Healthy Healing” :Dr. Linda G.Rector Page’s Natural Solutions to America’s top ten health problems. Etc. These books are best selling concerning the diet related topics. Even some of the versions of Dr.Atkins are focused mainly on diet and health, ways to improve health etc. What they have intended to give was based purely on restricted diet, or food items, and low fat , low calorie foods, but the concept of suggesting a new way of eating different food varieties of different countries will definitely be a innovative idea. People suffering from the health issue develop a tendency to trim down their interest towards life, and that too if eating becomes a medicinal process they become more and more disinterested towards food. In some cases people generally eat a lot, for them diet restriction remains a tough task. The recipes mentioned in this book will serve as a new scope for them. People with health issues will not only get a new life but also realise the variety in taste and gratification in eating a healthy food. Indians and Chinese recipes use fresh vegetables and boiled rice, which are in turn low in calorific value, nutritious, and tastes good. Where as Indonesian food items are also tasty, but they use less oil like Chinese. Those who like seafood and meat varieties will find out a variety of baked meat and fish preparations in this book. Cardiovascular diseases arise out of more fat and calories in take , the baked meat and fish type of Chinese and Indonesian cooking will guide them to try out a change in food style and hope for a better and out of ordinary life. Other than this, all the recipes are easy and fast to prepare. This would probably help not only the victims but also the service providers who help them. Apart form this some general information regarding nutritional values on every recipe mentioned in this book is also there. Along with tables, showing the dietary intake has been included for each recipe for each disease, such as a separate chart showing required calorie in each recipe. This will create more interest for the people to enlarge their concern for health. Even doctors could suggest this book for his patients. The Market: It will be quiet surprising to find out that not many will intend to spend for books on dietary instructions and practices. What most of them would be doing? ,Is that they keep sticking towards what their physicians or dieticians recommend. But the increasing health issues are forcing people to buy books based on dietary instructions and practices. Responses form book sellers reflect that dieticians, physicians and educated victims, and service providers and finally very less percentage of educated homemakers seemed to have intention to buy these type of books. Nevertheless, the reception received from some of the dieticians and physical practitioners was good. Some of the publishers such as Elsevier, Random house etc have a lot of books published on health and diet practices .Elsevier publications are exclusively working to publish health related books, intended for medical practitioners, students, registered dieticians etc. Elsevier is one of the leading publishers of health care books in Australia and New Zealand . The company’s website reports that “Elsevier’s global publishing activities cover the whole gamut of health care, student textbooks in medicine, nursing and most other health related disciplines, revision books for exams, comprehensive reference books for specialist practitioners, manuals and pocketbooks for professionals at the cutting edge of medical practice” {Elsevier.com.2006} The Random House publishers also have many books which contains similar recipe collections for diabetic patients. Such as “The Mediterranean Prescription” by Dr.Angelo Acquista , 2006, the book talks of Renowned for its dazzling beauty and delectable cuisine, the Mediterranean island of Sicily has historically one of the healthiest diets in the world. Now all the succulent flavors and myriad benefits of Sicilian” [Random House.com 2006] One more notable person who has published several books on cooking is Jamie Oliver, he hails form UK, and has sustained an important place in recipe collections. In fact he has written of recipes of many countries, though each book carries up to a single cuisine. Some of his famous and best selling books are “Jamie’s Italy “published by McNally Robinson, a hard cover type came out in 2006, September. In that, he has given a lot about Italian dishes and nutritional values in them. As far as Jamie Oliver is concerned, his publicity is well known from media attention. Called otherwise as a Naked Chef, Jamie’s success depends on his experiment with many cuisines. However, in his previous collections too, like “The Naked Chef”, “Jamie’s Kitchen” or “Jamie’s Dinners” do not really have particular focus towards recipes specially selected for persons affected by health issues. He rather seems to be working towards making the present health situation to a better one. But Anthology.. will surpass Jamie’s concepts also. This book is aimed not only at physical practitioners and at dieticians, but also concentrated on the fact that all people should read and practically enjoy the benefit form this. The language is simple English, the readability is also verified with selected group of moderated education, and they seem to understand the reason behind diet and balanced diet and the relationship, which exist between food and health issues. “Anthology of Multi-Cuisine- a diet Guide for Obese and Diabetic” is a book that is proposed to stress on the awareness on diet control, and flashing on a new and happy life style by trying out a variety in food preparation and eating for disease victims. This book contains a recipe collections from three main Asian countries, where as other books in the market Such as Atkins, and Random House Publications has only a specific collection, either concentrated towards one disease or one type of cuisine . Anthology .. has all the details in it, which might be available if you refer to some three or four books. Competition: The competition for the health and diet related books remains good only for selected group of publishers such as Simon and Schuster, Healthy Healing Publishers etc. Among the other books Dr.Atkin’s books seem to have taken the prominent position in sales and content. But his book contains recipes that what ever he discusses in his book are in the form of either advices or tips. Thus giving the book the appearance of one more prescription in a detailed form. While considering Dr.Linda’s healing topics, she has probed quiet deep into the medicinal values in plants which could be taken for controlling some top ten diseases in America, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes milletus etc While considering the content of the book it is also necessary to consider the cost. In fact the cost of the book “Anthology of Multi-Cuisine- a diet Guide for Obese and Diabetic” is considerably less when compared to that of other best selling books of Dr.Atkins’ and Dr.Linda. which costs $24 for 240 pages and $30respectively. “Anthology of Multi-Cuisine- a diet Guide for Obese and Diabetic” costs $15 with 360 pages, which is affordable for all classes of people. Dr.Atkins, book seem to have been the favourite for many practitioners, Anthology of Multi-Cuisine- a diet Guide for Obese and Diabetic will takes its position by the reception it will be getting form all sorts of people. This will serve as a guide even for parents to practise a healthy eating atmosphere for their children right form their small age. While Random House Publications contains the same type of health and diet related books, some books contains only diet and nutrition related recipes, and each type of recipe could be found in different book, not as a whole. If recipe collection for diabetic patients is given in one book, the recipe for obese could be found in another book. So in this aspect Anthology.. has more points on its advantageous side than the others, even Atkins’s collection. One more site for diet and health books is the Low Carb Book.com too has released several books on diet and health, but they too like Random house publication and Atkins’ focused on either of the aspects which is given as a whole in Anthology… It this book is introduced in the market the competition would exist between Atkins, Book, Random House Publications, and Elsevier. But Anthology … would receive more readers than the others, because of its multi-cuisine recipe collection given along with health related issues and nutritious value chart would help for its success. It would be very useful for medical practitioners, students who have taken nutrition course, people who suffer form the major health issues, house wives etc. Ways to Promote Sales: Recently the tradition of writing blogs has been running successfully as a favourable factor to promote the sales of a book or product. Blogs are opinions of various people who could contribute their statement towards a product. The market and publicity of the product is enhanced with the help of blogs submitted by reviewers. There are many website which provide blog entries for all. This could successfully influence the popularity of the book. In the same way Anthology.. can also be included in the blog section of some websites which promotes health related products. The Amazon Associates Program [freebooks.com 2005] is one among the services done though internet facilities. With the help of this an author could provide details of his book such as rate, a summary of the contents, availability of the book etc. If a wholesome purchase has been accepted for students, Universities, or Diet Professionals, a considerable discount could be given. For example, a total purchase of 25 copies will have 10% reduction in price. If professionals and Students prescribe this book the sales of the book will gradually increase in the market. One more way is to get the copyright for the book, and allow the details of the book to appear in search engines of websites like Google or Yahoo. One more interesting way to enhance the marketing would be asking famous professionals and students to write reviews on this book. If the collection of reviews are published either in a well known magazine or website then automatically sales will increase.
