Physical Fitness Improves Job Performance According to Hoeger and Hoeger , physical fitness refers to the ofthe body well-being and the ability to engage in various activities. To achieve a physically active and healthy body a person should observe exercises, hygiene and nutrition. There is an increasing concern about physical fitness of the workers and some organizations encourage workers to observe physical fitness because of its contribution to performance of the organization (Kumashiro, 2008). This study will assess the impact of physical fitness to the organizations output. Although some people perceive maintaining physical fitness is a waste of time, on contrary, physical fitness improves job performance Physical fitness reduces the body weight of an individual. Physical fitness helps to improve the state of the mind, fights chronic illnesses and contributes to loss of body weight. Most of the illnesses are related to lack of proper physical activities or obese (Greenberg, Dintiman & Oakes, 2004). However, physical fitness enables the person to utilize a lot of calories in the exercise hence reducing the chances of becoming overweight. Workers with poor health conditions take a lot of breaks or sick leaves, have poor attendance records and do not relate well with their colleagues at work. However, physical exercises enable workers to shed off weight hence reduce the chances of falling ill. In addition, the workers are able to appreciate themselves and with the organization. Therefore, physical activities will reduce the cases of absenteeism at work and improve workers relationships. Consequently, the organization will be able to enjoy improved productivity because of increase in working input as a result of fewer sick leaves (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2013). Furthermore, improvement in workers cooperation will help the organization to achieve its performance goals due to fewer conflicts among the workers. Employees unity contributes to increase in performance because the workers will encourage each other and provide assistance to one another whenever it is necessary hence increase in the input of the workers. Physical fitness reduces the level of blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, and improve the activities of the heart (Sharkey & Davis, 2008). For example, eating a healthy diet in the right proportion and engaging in physical exercises contributes a lot to the wellbeing individual. Poor heart performance is likely to result to fatigue especially if there is inadequate blood flow in the brain. However, physical exercises improve the activities of the heart and enhance blood flow in the entire body thus reducing risks of suffering from fatigue. At the work place, people with fatigue are less active, and the quality and quantity of their work is below average (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2012). Therefore, physical fitness can help the workers to improve the quality of work and increase their output because of the increase in alertness of the body. Some of the causes of underperformance in an organization are the inability of the workers to meet their targets. Physical exercises improve the wellbeing of the person and enhance time management skills and performance of the brain. According to a medical survey conducted by a British scholar Jim Mckenna on how physical exercise can improve the work performance, it was established that employees who engage in regular physical exercises are able to improve work performance up to fifteen percent. Such workers were more contented with their daily tasks they perform at work than those who do not indulge in any physical exercise at all. The level of employee’s satisfaction with their work determines their productivity and the performance of the company (Greenberg, et.al, 2004). Therefore, since physical exercises improve individual satisfaction with the work, it is apparent that physical exercises will contribute to improvement of the employee’s performance. Physical activities aid the body in generating insulin. Insulin assists in the breakdown of glucose in the body to generate energy. If the body is not able to decompose the glucose in the body and generate the required energy for normal activities, the person becomes less active and has a high risk of becoming diabetic (Kumashiro, 2008). Therefore, the breakdown of glucose in the body is very necessary for wellness and active individual. As for the workers physical fitness is very essential because it helps the body to generate insulin that aids in breaking down of glucose to generate energy. If employees engage in more physical activities they become alert and active thus they can be able to increase their input in the organization that results to improvement in the performance of the organization. Physical fitness especially aerobics and proper dieting helps the body to get rid of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2012). These microorganisms are responsible for causing illnesses. However, physical exercises strengthen the immune system of the body thereby decreasing the susceptibility of the body to diseases caused by pathogens. Ailing workers are less productive at work than workers who are physically well.. However, physical fitness will help improve the performance of the workers because the exercise improves the immune system hence reducing illnesses caused by microorganisms. According to Hoeger and Hoeger, (2013), physical fitness contributes to the employees’ performance by helping to building masculine of the workers. Some of the physical exercises such as aerobics help the body to break down the body sugars and generate the energy required for the physical exercises. These activities contribute to building of body stamina thereby making an individual stronger. At the work environment, some jobs are very involving, and they cannot be performed by just any person. For example, some jobs involving lifting weights such as loading and offloading goods in carriers or arranging heavy loads in the warehouse manually will require people with stamina (Sharkey & Davis, 2008). Therefore, physical fitness is essential for the people intending to develop stamina, and such people are able to perform better in the organization. In conclusion, physical fitness helps to improve the health conditions of the workers, gives workers confidence and improve workers inter-relationships. In addition, physical fitness increase body performance reduces susceptibility to illness and strengthens the immune system of the body. It increases body stamina and general activeness of the workers. Therefore, healthy workers are more productive and more active hence increase in performance.
