The review built on establishing the existing experience among healthcare practitioners especially those in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, and Qatar.

Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) is recognized as one of the remarkable moves toward improving healthcare service in modern hospitals. It is a broad area that entails the provision of healthcare which integrates thoughtful scientific techniques to improve the manner of healthcare services. It is one of the areas within healthcare that allows the practitioner to use and access available data, guidelines, and reasons to best examine a clinical problem and offer the correct mode of intervention. This concept has been embraced in recent years due to the need of identifying the best intervention procedures for the changing disease environment. Scholars argue that the attainment of Evidence-Based Practices in the nursing profession has been easy, especially in developed countries. More than 85% of the hospitals in the US, India, and the UK have integrated Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) as one of the requirements in the nursing profession. Since 2010, the practice has also been widely adopted in Australia, China, Brazil, France, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.

A worrying trend of emerging diseases and the need to have deep research in the intervention and management of such diseases has been an instigator towards adopting Evidence-Based Practice (EBP). Researchers argue that nearly 11% of deaths every year are caused by inappropriate disease testing methods and a lack of best intervention and management methods from health practitioners. A larger number of such deaths also result from the inability of healthcare practices to match the growing trends in the contemporary disease environment. Therefore, studies have advocated for the need to have in-depth research and studies on better management and response options to such emerging clinical conditions and diseases. MEHRDAD et al. (2008) analyzed various studies in Iran regarding the barriers and challenges affecting the adoption of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) among nurses. Such results indicate a great disparity from many developed countries such as India which have integrated such practices in the various hospitals. Nations located in the Middle East have undergone a lot of challenges in adopting Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) as opposed to other Western countries.

Despite the studies highlighted above primarily focusing on the need to adopt Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in improving nursing practices, most of them either centered on Western countries or more developed countries. Therefore, this review was developed with the aim of determining the experience of healthcare professionals in adopting Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), especially in the middle of the Middle East.

Aim

The aim of this review is to determine the experience of healthcare professionals in adopting Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), especially in the middle of the Middle East.

Objectives

The objectives of this review are to assess the outcomes of nurses from various Middle East countries regarding the existing barriers, facilitations, knowledge, and their response toward adopting Evidence-Based Practice.

METHODOLOGY

Search Design

A systematic search will be used to determine primary research studies. The systematic search involves neither reviewing relevant studies, including relevant information and also excluding some information that has no relevance in the topical area. The search design used, therefore, integrates only the information which helps in developing the thematic area of study and contributing toward the study points.
