GСС Неаlthсаrе Рrоvisiоn Name: Institution: Date: Identify two main reasons why healthcare standards may improve in the GCC region? The health care industry in the region is expected to increase due to increased government funding. For instance, the Saudi Arabian Kingdom increased its funding on the sector in its budget allocations 2012’2013. The will enhance increased health care infrastructure and services in the UAE region. On the other hand, the region’s health care standards are expected to rise due to increased involvement of the private sector in services provision. In this regard, the private sector is charged with increasing competition in the industry. For example, the involvement of the private sector in Korea will increase its competition that translates into increased standards to enhance competitiveness. This would enhance health care industry and quality health care provision in the UAE region (Wolper, 2011). What will the Middle East healthcare sector are estimated to be worth in 2025? The health care industry in the Middle East is expected to increase and rise in the recent years. As such, in a bid to increase these services, governments have increasingly raised their spending in the industry. Moreover, this spending is expected ad projected to increase even more in the future. The estimated figure as of year 2025 is forecasted at $ 60 billion In this regard, the increased forecasted investment in the industry is targeted at increasing the industry-required infrastructures including the establishment of the health care facilities, to enhance accessibility. Further, the funds are expected to increase the industry professionals as well as required equipments (Berkowitz, 2011). Identify 2 of the possible reasons for this investment? Increased investment in this sector is channelled by two major reasons. On one hand, is the realization of the relationship between the industry and economic performance. In the recent past, governments in the UAE region have established that the health care industry is an ideal support system towards economic growth in the regions. Secondly, the increased investments in the industry are expected to raise use to the involvement of the private sector such as the case in Korea. In this case, the private industry has increased funds that are expected to be channelled towards improving quality and accessibility of the industry in the Middle East region (Wolper, 2011). What are the four major pathogen groups, which cause communicable diseases? The main pathogen groups that cause communicable diseases include the bacteria’s, protozoa, fungi and viruses. On one hand, the bacterial group causes contamination communicable diseases such as typhoid caused by the mycobacterium tuberculosis. Moreover, the protozoa cause other communicable diseases especially those transmitted from other infectious insects such as malaria caused by the plasmodium protozoan. Viruses cause further, communicable diseases. This pathogenic group is most infectious example include influenza virus that causes flu. Finally, in this category are the fungi pathogenic infections such as Tinea fungi that cause ringworms (Berkowitz, 2011). Suggest TWO Public Health interventions, which have caused the decline of communicable diseases? Communicable diseases pose an increasingly big challenge in the health care industry. Due to the increased infection rates, communicable diseases lead to increased health care industry expenditures. Due to this, health care facilities have resulted into intervention and control measures as their proactive measures in curtailing the diseases spread. Among the common adopted intervention measures are community mobilization and capacity building. On one hand, community mobilization incorporates educating the public on proactive ways of averting the disease infection. Additionally, intervention measures include capacity building in health care facilities. This equips such facilities with required infrastructure to derail disease spread (Wolper, 2011). What proportion of the population is obese in the UAE? Give a brief explanation of what 2 factors may be causing this? The UAE population in the health care industry is largely obese. In this case, the industry has an increasingly large number of4 0%. This condition is highly caused and influenced by modern production method and changed lifestyle. In this case, the modern food production methods use chemicals and genetic inputs leading to unhealthy dieting. Moreover, lifestyle change has led to increased obesity cases. The new lifestyle denies the population and opportunity for increased exercise that has resulted into increased calories (Berkowitz, 2011). Why is the healthcare sector growing in the UAE? What demographic trends are driving this? The health care industry has in the recent past recorded increased growth rates in the UAE. The sector records not only increased government spending but also increased attendance rates. This has mainly resulted from an ageing population. For example in the UAE, health care services are especially needed for treatment of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and obesity. This scenario is highly influenced by the existence of a high ageing population in the region. As such, this exposes the community to increased diseases vulnerability. To this effect, the population increasingly seeks medical services due to the UAE demographic trends (Berkowitz, 2011). Which demographic “sector” will grow needing more access to services in the next two decades? In the next two decades, the current working middle class demographic sector will grow to need increased health care services. In this case, the population is highly susceptible to increased lifestyle diseases. Moreover, increased environmental degradation in the region leads to an imminent danger of increased communicable diseases. In this case, the current working demography will in the next two decades be ageing. As such with increasing immunity levels due to age, the group will increasingly need and seek medical attention (Geisler, Krabbendam & Schuring, 2003). How will technology contribute to the “Efficiency of care”? The adoption of new technology in the health care industry will enhance the proviso of increased health care delivery as well as quality. The adoption of new technology in the industry will enhance increased performance. Technology in the medical professions has led to change in adopted medical practices. In this case, the use of technology, such as the use of clinical medical documentation systems leads to increased data availability and the adoption of evidence based medical approach. As such, evidence based practice enhances accuracy and unique address of patients cases based on specific patients data rather than reliance on general medical approaches. Technology adoption in UAE will enhance increased services efficiency (Wolper, 2011). Why would government want to encourage private activity in healthcare? As evidence in the case study on the Korean health care industry, the Korean government has in the recent past resulted into efforts to envisage the private sector into the industry. In this case, the involvement of the private sector in the health care industry is hedge on two main perceived benefits. One is increased standards. The private sector is rich in investment capital. Thus through its involvement, the sector is likely to develop quality infrastructure as well as provide quality services. Moreover, the involvement of the private sector is to increase the community social status. Their activities will supplement government efforts seeking to increase health care accessibility in the society (Wolper, 2011). Why does information technology and pharmaceuticals put pressure on government expenditure on Healthcare? Information and pharmaceutical expenditures mount increased pressure on government spending. This emanates from the nature of their recurrent expenditure. On one hand, information technology is dynamic. In this case, technology equipments change on a regular basis necessitating the need for repeated expenditure of the equipments. Similarly, pharmaceuticals are consumables in the industry. As such, governments must allocate recurrent budgets in order to replenish such stocks (Geisler, Krabbendam & Schuring, 2003). How can new technologies improve quality of healthcare services? The development of new technology would improve health care services. In this case, the development of technology and its incorporation in medical practices would significantly increase the industry accuracy as well as reduce on margin of errors. For instance, patients’ condition monitoring equipments enhance increased accuracy data unlike the physical observation monitoring currently under use in local health care facilities in UAE. The development of new technology in the region as evidenced in the Chinese economy where increased investment in the health care industry through improved technology use, has significantly raised industry quality and performance (Geisler, Krabbendam & Schuring, 2003). Briefly, how will personal health records improve patient treatment outcomes? The medical profession is reliant on a range of factors for increased efficiency. In this case, the industry relies on patients’ medical history in order to establish an appropriate remedy. In this case, historical medical analysis establishes patients’ analysis based on their response to particular medication, vulnerability as well as other consideration. In this case, the retention of personal health records in the industry enhances an easy retrieval of these issues as and when required. For instance, electronic documentation, as already discussed enhances evidence based medical approach, an approach accredited with increased accuracy and success levels. As such, through enough patient related information, the medical professionals undertake rational decisions based on the best alternative actions on the challenges and medical successes faced by previous professionals in diagnosing the respective patients (Geisler, Krabbendam & Schuring, 2003). Why the number of hospital beds an indicator of Healthcare service provision? The health care industry performance can be measured and evaluated on a range of parameters. One among them is the use of organizations bed capacity. The bed capacity in these facilities represents the extent to which the industry handles acute health care issues. Bed capacities represent and hypothetically represent capacity on a range of factors. One, the industry bed capacity demonstrate the availability of other resources such as medication, expansion space as well as treatment equipments. Moreover, bed capacity increase indicates that such facilities have enough workforces such as the nursing professionals to cater for the admitted patients. Therefore, an aggregate of these factors demonstrate the level and nature of the health care service provisions (Geisler, Krabbendam & Schuring, 2003). References Berkowitz, E. N. (2011).
