? Communication paper Technological advancement has contributed majorly in the field of healthcare. Healthcareorganizations are faced with the problem of selecting the best technological advancement system to use that will be beneficial even in the future. Internet use and application have made communication between patients and healthcare providers possible. This has generated the urge for healthcare providers to ensure they are at par with the technological advancement. Email application is one of the technological advancement system used in healthcare organizations (Niles, 2011). Email as a mode of communication is advantageous to the patient, because less time is spent on the phone and patients communicate their problems freely with healthcare providers. The patients are required to write emails using their email addresses to healthcare providers to make the communication possible. Writing an email message is done when inquiring about appointments, asking doctors recommendation over their health progress and seeking the healthcare provider’s advice. Patients can also confirm and arrange meetings with healthcare providers through the email. Healthcare professionals when conducting healthcare services through the email, are made to put more emphasize on the patient interest with regard to security and confidentiality issues. Email empowers and ventures fresh expectations to the patients, this is because communication is made easier and efficient (Niles, 2011). Through the use, of emails patients have an advantage of accessing healthcare services easily without the need to travel to healthcare location. The patient communication becomes efficient since its fast and convenient. Patient care is easily monitored due to the nonemergency scenarios experienced in a healthcare institution. This is because healthcare can be provided to the patients using other settings and multidisciplinary teams. Email also becomes effective, because the patients are obliged in managing their own records (Niles, 2011). Application of email in healthcare is a risky venture; therefore, healthcare providers are required to ensure proper security measures applied to enhance confidentiality. The patient confidence needs to be fully achieved. Technical errors resulting from sharing and transmission of messages can make patients lack confidence with the system. Patients may miss fundamental information if an error occurs when sending and receiving of information this; therefore, may become a threat to the clinicians. In order to ensure patients confidentiality is achieved, proper laws need to be enacted. Through the installation, of proper laws and legal procedures patients will gain confidence with the system and medical records will easily be maintained (Nelson, 2010). Emails act as a physical mode where patients are linked to the provider. In addition, the historical medical records of patients are maintained by the email system. This assist healthcare providers to access a patient’s information with ease especially in an emergencies. Email communication needs to include all policies relating to confidentiality (Nelson, 2010). Email becomes an effective means of communication since patients are able to communicate their needs. Communication is usually between two people. Through the email message, patients are able to express their problems clearly. They are also able to receive and interpret the message they receive from the provider. This information when put into action, becomes the provider care. Emailing has made it possible for patients to express themselves freely to doctors without the fear of being judged. Patients have realized that they have an equal and even more agenda with the healthcare provider. This creates a better communication channel between the healthcare provider and the health consumer (Nelson, 2010). Other forms of communication advocate the channel of passing the message between two parties, which serves as, both receivers and senders. Emailing applies the face to face mode of communication. Both parties send and receive the message simultaneously. Here, both the patient and provider influence is considered mutual. This creates room for correction of the message if both of them are affected by the message and have the power of influence. The provider or patients send the email message then waits for feedback. Critical issue with emailing is the conflict when the medium is close to telegraphic communication. This conflict becomes hard to solve using the same medium. This makes conflicts arising from email technology hard to be fixed in time (Joos & Smith, 2010). Health care coverage has substantially evolved with the influence of the social networking. With the modern technology, there is instant passage and feedback of the message. Social networking like twitter and face book play a significant role in communication. Healthcare companies, which have delved, in the space of networking have been able to find markets and patient through supporting each other, sharing concern and looking for better outcomes (Nelson, 2010). The form of interaction can be real time through monitoring behavior. Social network has a wide power. Healthcare providers have been able to interact with any potential consumers, share ideas and get updates and formation of collaboration. Information can be largely spread and influence people in and out of their social circle (Joos & Smith, 2010). Individuals in a circle have the power to influence others over their favorite hospitals, clinics and even health providers. This has been made possible through posting praises of their most efficient and suitable service providers in their social network account. Twitter, face book and Google individuals have influence over other people in their circle. Social network circles influence relationship and trust among members. This makes the possibility of promoting individual wellness and issues relating to health. Media and social networking influences substantially depend on the magnitude of trust in the circle. This influence is through the motivation and inspiration among individuals in the circle who have experienced quality healthcare services. Nonetheless, individuals within the circle can be held accountable for their actions (Joos & Smith, 2010). Economical climate makes it hard to achieve new patients and generate relationships that are long term. Patients need first to be aware of your existence and will have to advertise over the services offered. Through emailing marketing is made possible and in a wide coverage. Healthcare provider can market their health products, services, procedures and development by the use of emails. The alerts used by the healthcare providers will also include appointment reminders to patients already in the list (Joos & Smith, 2010). Gathering patients’ information through emailing has been made easier. Marketing here is advanced since information is easily collected and has no limit on geographical boundary. Emailing in the healthcare services has the function of distributing advisories that relate to healthcare and healthcare information to the providers (Joos & Smith, 2010). Emailing provides the service of marketing in need of staff recruitment and their qualifications. In addition, healthcare organizations are also able to market where and when various workshop and health clinics will be held. Reference Joos, I. M. & Smith, M. J. (2010).
