Therefore, this assessment aims to evaluate the current health policies in Canada as well as identifying their effects to consumers. Evaluate the policies that have shaped the current health care system in Canada and identify how the consumers are affected. The current health care system in Canada was been shaped by the following policies: medical care policy commonly known as health insurance policy. This policy was apportioned into two major stages namely; medical care and diagnostic act of 1957 as well as medical health care Act of 1996 (The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2012).

The medical care and diagnostic act of 1957 provided the federal government with authority to enter into a contract with provincial government in order to provide health services to consumers. Among the health services provided include: acute health care, radiology, laboratory services as well diagnostic services (The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2012). On the contrary, medical health care act of 1966 was put forth to provide a health cover to doctors and nurses (Health Canada, 2012). . Accessibility criteria required that, all consumers to have an easier access to health care facilities without any obstacles (Health Canada, 2012).

Portability criteria required all consumers who have taken provincial and territorial cover to be compensated after moving into a different geographical location away from Canada (Health Canada, 2012). Connectively, the financial act policy of 1977 was put forth. This policy replaced the policy of medical by enhancing direct cash payment rather than through territorial and provincial government. Additionally, the budgeting and implementation act of 1966 was put forth to define how funds transfer could have taken place at provincial levels (The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2012).

Therefore, the above health policies enabled Canadian consumers to have an easier access to health at a lower cost irrespective of their financial backgrounds (Austin, Boyd & Austin, 2010). Provide a thoughtful analysis of the universal health system in Canada. Include an assessment of access to medical technology and advance medical treatment, overall health of Canadians, and cost of delivering health care on a national and provincial level. Canadian health system is believed to be the best among the developed countries (Evans & Roos, nd).

This is because the system provided universal health coverage to all the Canadians at a lowest cost as compared to the United States (Evans & Roos, nd). This is because health provision was not under the government control but rather under the third party control (Skinner & Fraser Institute, 2009). It was reported that, the united state could save up to 8.2 percent, an equivalent of $29.2
