Assignment 1

Designing a website for photography and camera reviews

The project will be designing and creating a photography website. Digital pictures are becoming more and more useful in telling stories. Stand-alone pictures help in telling stories that could otherwise not be described by words. Additionally, the website will have Digital Single-Lens Reflex Cameras (DSLR) reviews. The website will be telling stories and helping those passionate about photography know which cameras to use to create the best portfolios. The website will have five primary tabs: the Home, Gallery, Reviews, About, and Contact. The website will also have a sidebar where the latest and popular updates of pictures and reviews will be displayed for quick viewing. It will have a sharing, comment, and subscription sections where viewers can provide feedback and get alert of new postings.

The target audience for the project is youths and college students who are still struggling with what career paths to take. This project intends to influence their perception and how they can make their photography skills more useful. Moreover, there many people who have established their career paths but are enthralled and fascinated by photography. The estimated cost is $200. The main project deliverable will be a fully functional localized website accessible through multiple search engines and devices.

Project’s risks

System integration

Synchronizing will be an essential aspect of this project. However, it will be very challenging to ensure structural integration is to maximize clarity. Making websites local and specific to host effective translation is complicated and cost-sensitive (Cleary, n.d). Furthermore, updating and synching the website to accommodate changes to meet the audience's expectations will be intricate.

Compatibility

One of the objectives of this project is to make the website accessible from multiple devices. Attaining perfect cross-rostrum compatibility and making it functional on every browser is harder than it appears on the face value (Velocity Consultancy, 2018). It could create discontentment to viewers and eventually put them off completely.

Scalability and maintenance

The website will be scalable to accommodate innovations, and depending on the traffic it will create when launched. According to Wickramarachchi (2017), using mobile phones to access websites is becoming very popular. Therefore, this means that this photography and review website should have the capacity to change in size to accommodate ample content because of the anticipated demand.

Cost estimation

The project may seem like it does not require much capital. Estimating the price based on face value could cause the risk of being unsuccessful and, eventually, termination. Generating a perfect budget plan which will see the project to the end will be puzzling and very tricky.

Time estimation

Completing the project on time will depend on many factors. Some of these factors, such as a change in service providers' cost, pose the risk of project delay. The time factor cannot be exclusively and utterly projected. Underestimation of time required and fully committing the resources required will negatively affect this project.
