Extract of sample "Green Computing Research Project: Pareto Chart"

Pareto Chart The above Pareto Chart developed using MS Excel 2007 (Excel, . Green Computing Scenario Every flaw and loophole impacting the efficiency and effectiveness of the solution / project need to be recognized, specified and encountered. The Pareto Chart is one of the tools used for separating the major problems from many identified problems so that the management team can focus only the critical issues becoming hurdle in the success of a project. Keeping in view the scenario of the green computing research project, the Pareto Chart is the significant tool for recognizing and focusing the issues of the green computing research project.

The above given Pareto Chart of the green computing project indicates that there is total eight (8) quality factors that can contribute towards the success or failure of the green computing project. These factors include: the performance, sustainability, security, cost, efficiency, scalability, availability, accessibility, and robustness. As it is quite difficult to manage and solve all the above mentioned problems, therefore, the Pareto Analysis rule of 80 / 20 should be implemented. The rule specifies that 80 % of the problems arose because of the 20 % of the reasons; therefore, it is essential to encounter those issues / reasons.

From the Pareto Analysis it has been identified that if the management team of the green computing research project focuses on the performance, sustainability, security, cost and efficiency of the project, then, the project would not suffer with any of the project issues include: the scalability, accessibility, and robustness. In other words, it can be stated that these quality factors are interrelated and if the major issues can be resolved the minor issues would not have a significant effect on the green computing project.

Keeping in view the above facts, it is pertinent to mention here that the Pareto Chart is a suitable tool for implementation in the green computing project (Wittwer, 2009).ReferencesWittwer, J.
