Cost-benefit framework to analysis cloud computing for higher education institute Literature Review Higher Education Institutes around the world have the necessity of having information technology in their institutions. It is critical for all higher education institutions to have information technology to provide the students with digital content, personal material, interactive classes among others. The various institutions have a transition and now moving to cloud computing technologies, which is critical in shifting the cost of operation.

The improvement on cost is coming from the fact that the services are no longer “locally hosted” but are now in a “rental model”. Apart from cost benefit, cloud computing has the advantage of being available and resilient. There is an analysis of the benefits of cloud computing (Chandra and Borah, 2012). The outcomes of the researchers demonstrate that there is an open door for both institutions of higher learning and Cloud suppliers to team up keeping in mind the end goal to upgrade the nature of administrations and decrease costs.

There is an ambitious plan by the government of India to raise the enrollment of students in higher education from the current 16 million to 42 million by the year 2020. There is also a plan interconnect the universities and colleges and offer e-learning in the process (Chandra and Borah, 2012). All these plans will be made possible and cheaper through cloud computing. The system of education that has its basis on cloud computing provides efficiency where the construction and sometimes maintenance is by the cloud computing suppliers.

Many organizations apart from the educational institutions are adopting to the Cloud computing services as it has a higher return on investment (Misra and Mondal, 2011). There is research that has found cloud computing to be significant and profitable to both starts –up firms and small businesses (Nanath and Pillai, 2013). It is significantly known as the “Green IT. Nanath and Pillai (2013) have come up with a three-layer model that shows the significant cut on losses by cloud computing on institutions.

”Cloud computing is going to have a significant impact on the future of the education system, especially higher learning institutions as e-learning will be cheaper for the institutions offering it. Universities have decided to join in the cloud computing services as it is a perfect way to reduce the cost of operations. The schools can teach the students relevant information and provide appropriate, a suitable material using the latest technological advances. One of the approaches of the institutions of higher learning is by making use of resources, including Microsoft Office 365 as well as Google Apps for Education.

In the Czech Republic, adoption of the above technologies has enabled the universities to provide an efficient learning to their students in large scale (Maresova and Půžová, 2014). Maresova and Půžová (2014) used the Cost Benefit Analysis Method found that the adoption of cloud computing in medium-sized enterprises is useful in cutting costs of the IT department. It gives them the opportunity to deliver their services efficiently to the high number of mobile students. The method can outline the implications of this current technology to the financial statements of the institutions.
