Cardiovascular diseases are illnesses of the heart and the blood vessels. In a nutshell CVD has been the number one cause of deaths in the United States.
In all these the main cause of the problem is the damage or blockage of the heart’s arteries due to which blood flow is restricted. Hypertension is also known as the silent killeris another major factor which leads to heart conditions. What are some of the reasons for all these problems? Lack of exercise, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity and a stressful lifestyle are some of the factors that are strongly associated with CVD diseases. PLAN OF ACTION If you have CVD in your family history, the chances of you inheriting the problem are high. However there are some precautionary measures that can reduce your chances of getting CVD. A healthy lifestyle is the key to avoiding the mess. Eat well which means cutting down of foods high in Trans and saturated fats. Include 5 to 10 mg of soluble fiber in your diet by eating foods such as vegetables, fruits, oat bran, psyllium seeds and legumes. Reduce your salt and oily intake. Exercise is vital in order to maintain a healthy weight. Do your heart a favor and go for walks regularly or even better join a gym, yoga or Pilate’s class. This way you can burn your calories and maintain your weight while lowering your triglycerides, increasing HDL thus reducing your risks of coronary diseases. ...
