Hypertension is also known as the silent killeris another major factor which leads to heart conditions. What are some of the reasons for all these problems? Lack of exercise, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity and a stressful lifestyle are some of the factors that are strongly associated with CVD diseases. PLAN OF ACTION If you have CVD in your family history, the chances of you inheriting the problem are high. However there are some precautionary measures that can reduce your chances of getting CVD. A healthy lifestyle is the key to avoiding the mess. Eat well which means cutting down of foods high in Trans and saturated fats. Include 5 to 10 mg of soluble fiber in your diet by eating foods such as vegetables, fruits, oat bran, psyllium seeds and legumes. Reduce your salt and oily intake. Exercise is vital in order to maintain a healthy weight. Do your heart a favor and go for walks regularly or even better join a gym, yoga or Pilate’s class. This way you can burn your calories and maintain your weight while lowering your triglycerides, increasing HDL thus reducing your risks of coronary diseases. Most of us have some problems in our life which stress us out to the point that we are thinking about them constantly. All these worries and anger create a hostile environment for your heart. Although the exact way in which this is done is not yet identified, several studies indicate that a stress, depression and anger increase the chances of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. So just try to relax in life. Make time for yourself and take break to unwind. Yes it’s difficult but you can at least try to think about the more important things such as your health before you go into bouts of depression and anxiety. CANCER Cancer is the abnormal growth of cells that interrupt the normal programming of body cells which results in a neoplasmic mass known as a tumor. Cancer is not a single disease but refers to hundreds of problems. There are two basic factors that contribute to cancer; hereditary and acquired (environmental). Smoking is the biggest risk factor for cancer responsible for 87 percent of deaths because of lung cancer. Poor nutrition, obesity, less physical activity and stress are also contributors to cancer. Genetics plays a big role in this disease and according to many scientists five percent of cancer cases are hereditary. Workplace hazards where you are exposed to radiation for long periods of time is also a factor. Food additives are also said to be a reason for cancerous tumors. PLAN OF ACTION Even if you have cancer in your close family you should do your best to avoid all unhealthy actions in your life. Avoid smoking and smoking environments in case you don’t smoke yourself. Women should examine their selves regularly and women over 50 should have mammograms. Do not expose yourself to ultraviolet rays without protection. Avoid getting tans by sitting in the sun and do not go those tanning places which give artificial tans which are equally injurious contrary to popular belief.
