The Salem Witchcraft trials happenings in 1692 remain iconic in American History. The trials form the thesis of subjects in historical articles, novels, plays, and films. The trials fascinate audiences from pop culture and academic American society. This is the case since the trials took place in the twentieth century. The United States may be a young country, but it carries many important historical aspects. The country returns to Salem Witchcraft through different periods. Relation to the Salem Witchcraft Trials remains evident in the American population. The population's focus on history has been on the elite as historical events concerned powerful individuals. The Salem Witchcraft Trials reverse the focus as the trials involve “common” people. In the twentieth century, the study of the Salem witch trials remains a focus in enlightening the youth on the various happening. It is through this study that the relationship between “The crucible” and “The Young Goodman” remains important.

The crucible and the young Goodman brown have similarities and differences in the presentation of information. The display a sense of in the classical literature by “Young Goodman Brown”, the period 1692 characterizes Salem Witch Trials, which leads to the hanging of nineteen people judged of being witches. Hawthorne a descendant of one of the judges who participated in the witch trials published “Young Goodman Brown” relating the play to the society presented with the mindset of spawned trials. The evil statements show also in a mimic 1953 play by Arthur Miller, “The crucible” which adapts to Young Goodman's theme as it relates to the Salem Witch Trials as an allegory to refute the actions committed by the senator of Joseph McCarthy’s House in American Activities. In 1690, citizens experience the first newspaper in North America.
The paper scuttles before the year as the Governor of Massachusetts ends its production. A display of evil information is evident in all the newspapers. “The New York Herald “opens and runs six years later forming a “New York Tribune”. The information in the newspapers aims at non-partisan individuals. In the 19th century, the events portrayed by the two narratives portray through the leading newspaper which is “USA Today” founded in 1982. The population factor as related by the two narratives also displays similarities. In the 1600s, the Native American population numbers were estimated at seven million. In the 1800s the number was below three million and in 1997, the number was above two million.

The display of information in the two narratives relates. In the “Young Goodman Brown” Broen says to Faith, “There’s a divinity that shapes our ends, Rough-hew them how we will” (Herbert B. Rothschild 247). Young Goodman Brown agrees with the fact that he cannot control all things. In the end, God controls all things and he is the ruler of our destinies. Young Goodman Brown is going through a period of change from an indecisive warrior to adopting a character. At the beginning of the play, Young Goodman Brown was far from relating to such words, but about the success of Fortinbras’s success in his army. Revolving his character to a transformed him to gain an army as loyal as that of Fortinbras. The line is relative to Shakespeare had his audience. At the end of his play in 1603, England was facing uncertainty. The future of the country was unclear in terms of leadership and Queen Elizabeth had not processed a successor. England had experienced a change in political and religious change in authority leading to a change in the century picking a widespread of previous widespread. The future of England was apprehensive as the time of ruling the royalty had been ruling in divine right. Concerning Young Goodman Brown, the statement meant that the happening of the situation was a will of God to establish the happenings of the country. Relating this to other stories is evident.
“The Young Goodman Brown” relates to “The Crucible” in the sense that with all good things, there are bad things that are prone to happen. Read More
