She imagined how good it will be to finally live for herself and not for anybody else. She whispers to herself of how she wished for a long life since it would be a happy one where she was free in both body and soul (Kate). Louise had finally got her freedom, she started to fancy all the days ahead of her. She thought of how beautiful the spring days, summer days and any other days to come will be like. It appears that Louise had been living a life of being constantly oppressed and her will restrained (Kate 1).

It can be seen by the way she reacts when she realizes that her husband is dead and no one is going to impose anything on her, but herself. She thinks of how she is going to live her life freely with no one to tell her what to do. Louise was a young woman, who had all her life ahead of her. She was yet to enjoy life to the fullest as she had wanted, and this was majorly because of her husband Brently Mallard who had rather made her life difficult. She was living a depressed life that had made her miserable and had even shuddered at the thought of a long life (Kate 1).

But with the new freedom she had acquired, she was looking forward to live every single day and make herself happy in all the ways she could.
