As your syllabus explains, plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form whatsoever.Essay Question:Do you believe Dante, the principal character in the Divine Comedy, shows heroic characteristics in the poem? Why or why not? Make clear in your response how you are defining heroism. Write a multi-paragraph essay in which you use textual support, including limited quotations, from the textbook to support your assertions.In the Divine Comedy, the main character, Dante, is seen to pass through the cradles of hell to redeem himself and the get back the love of his life, Beatrice, before heading to heaven to receive salvation.

Dante portrays a heroic gesture throughout the poem as evidence from his quest of determination (Dante). Damned in the pits of hell, Dante is still determined to overcome the Satan in Hell, get his lover and later head to heaven. This quest was not an easy one for the faint hearted and it called for a lot of courage to see it through, “Do not be afraid; our fate Cannot be taken from us; it is a gift.” (Dante). Though with some help from Virgil, Dante manages to overcome the trials that face him as he goes deeper through chambers in hell.

Dante passes through horrific chambers which tempt him to stay and to continue sinning so that he remains in hell, but he remains focused on his goal. The only thing that keeps him to his quest is getting the love of his life and heading to heaven. Achieving such a goal while from the depths of hell, is not an easy task. At the end of the story, Dante triumphs over hell and manages to get the love of his life and heads to receive salvation in Heaven. Work CitedDante, Alighieri. The Divine Comedy.
