However, his conclusion is very different. According to Machiavelli, things that are above it do not limit politics. Things that people view as being outside politics in any political situation turn out to be much more under the control of politics than the politicians themselves are as philosophers have assumed (Mansfield, 2010). According to Stacey (2014), Machiavelli is a reputable author whereby the greatest source of this reputation is “The Prince”. Hence, numerous scholars consider him being the modern political theory’s father.

Via misunderstandings and misrepresentations, most of Machiavelli’s writings many view them being almost diabolical with the most violent assailants as the clergy. Machiavelli’s account and background contribute greatly to his writing. He was born in Florence in 1469. He saw firsthand the troubles brought about by the French invasion of 1493 besides having held several government positions in his lifetime. These positions affected his writing a lot and the themes found in most of his books (Stacey, 2014).

Among the posts he held, he was the Ten’s secretary thus remaining in this position until 1512 when the republic fell. He also involved himself in varied missions including four to France and one to the Emperor Maximilian’s mission. Most of his books’ insights relate to these missions and affairs of Germany as well as France treaties. Machiavelli was also involved in Gonfaloniere Soderini’s downfall. Machiavelli was charged for conspiracy, tortured and later pardoned. After these events, he decided to devote himself to literature after retiring from the public life.

This is why his background contributed to his books greatly (Stacey, 2014). Machiavelli’s works are not a treatise setting out of his wisdom that can be imbibed as second-hand information by readers who are uncritical.
