In the second article “Blind Spot” the author Randall Kennedy has talked about racial profiling and whether it should be practiced. He has pointed out that people are not always judged based on their race but also on their gender, age or past conduct. However, the point of argument raised by the author is that whether racial profiling should be practiced in whatever context even if as one of many factors since he states “even a little racial discrimination should require lots of justification” (Kennedy, 577).

Both the articles deal with social issues although the subject matter is different. The feeling of alienation can be grown in all kinds of ways. Like Randall Kennedy has mentioned in his article how the practice of racial profiling divides the world between the people of certain communities and the Americans thereby alienating the former from the latter. He has defined the term racial profiling as “the policy or practice of using race as factor in selecting whom to place under special surveillance” (Kennedy, 577).

He has given example of airport screening where authorities take special precautions to screen people from certain parts of the world like the Middle East. However, he has also stated how officials and civil rights activists defend this act by claiming that race is not the sole factor taken into consideration while screening airport passengers. In spite of such claimants, according to the author the fact does not goes unnoticed that racial prejudices play a big role. This certainly alienates a certain community of people from the larger society.
