Poetry Explication: Mirror by Sylvia Plath - Essay Example

Sylvia Plath utilizes this metaphor to demonstrate that the little lass that loved to look into the mirror has at the moment sunk, and an elderly woman rises in her direction "like a terrible fish". This illustrates her hate for herself. Plath has looked into this mirror each day for an extended period, in addition to her seeing that she is becoming older and hates it.
