Extract of sample "Personification of the Turtle"

The personification of the turtle enables the reader to identify more closely with the turtle. This identification with the turtle is achieved by referring to the tortoise as he and describing aptly his endeavours to walk to his point of destination. Thus, the turtle’s endeavours are made easily understandable and readily identifiable, through personification. Secondly, personifying the turtle compels the reader to acknowledge the value of the turtle’s life and provokes the reader to see the need to respect all forms of life.

On the one hand, the reader has been made to appreciate the turtle’s endeavours and human-like traits; on the other hand, there is a driver who wants to run his truck over the turtle.
Through the use of personification, the author achieves his main goal which is provoking the audience towards a rightful attitude towards life. After helping the reader appreciate the value of the turtle’s life in the light of its human-like attributes and the turtle’s sufferings, the reader can only revel in the female sedan driver who swerves to avoid running over the turtle and condemn the truck driver who attempts to run over the turtle.
