Non-sanctioned leadership can be termed as informal, and it may be even more important than the formal impact. Hence, it is seen that leaders do not only arise from the formal structure within an organization, they also arise from outside these formal postings and structure (Robbins & Judge, 2014). In spite of the source of leadership within an organization, it is vital that any organization is built on a foundation of strong management and leadership. Building an organization on this foundation ensures that the organization is primed for maximum efficiency in its operations.

Hence, in this report, three companies shall be examined, and the leadership within them described. The companies include Alibaba, a company based in China; Phillips & Company, a private company; and RBC, a Canadian company. The main focus of the report is transformational leadership and how it has been applied in these companies. All existing companies need leaders who will not sit on their leadership positions and be content with the existing norms. They need leaderships who will challenge, inspire, and motivate the company’s workforce towards the achievement of certain set goals.

Leaders who will set high standards that the company can look up to, and that shall be the envy of competing companies. What type of leaders are this? This type of leaders are called transformational leaders. Who or what is a transformational leader? According to Robbins & Judge (2014), transformational leaders are leaders who have built on transactional leadership. The authors go on to state that this type of leaders make people forget about their interests for the company’s good.
