Management Practices in Google Company of Management Practices in Google Company Overview of Google Google is anAmerican multinational company deal in Internet related services and products. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two students at Stanford University, founded it. Google is the largest search engine and millions of people regularly use Google for different purposes such as for advertisement. The cooperation runs more than one million servers in different data centers across the world and it process over one billion search requests. The company friendly culture so that everyone would share his or her ideas to the company. The offices and cafes of Google are shaped to encourage interaction among the users of Google (Kissmetrics, 2013). Mission goals and objective The company’s main mission is to organize information globally and make it accessible to all users in different parts of the world. The vision of the company is to develop a kind of environment that an individual or a company desires to create so that the company would facilitate the general public. The goal of the company is to simplify the lives of individuals by providing help in their respective fields. Key Changes in Management Style of Google The company has brought a change in the management style in last 8-10 years. The company is conscious regarding their good management. Google always hire people who could derive significant benefits to the company. There are two major changes made in the management styles that are given below. • Good Managers • Formal education qualification is not the priority Good Managers A good manager is the priority of the company. The company facilitates the manager that has the experience, leadership skills and communication techniques. The company allows effective managers to work in it to ensure that the management is effective in deriving advantages that are mentioned in the goal and mission of the company. Good managers are the key to success as they set directions for the juniors to work. They set parameters based on the prediction and analyzing the conditions in the market (Draft, 2015). Formal Education is Not the Priority Google has start hiring the employees that have predicted and innovative mind. It is mentioned by the company that they hire on qualification but to some extent. They usually notice whether the employee can predict and allow the company to prevail in international markets by providing effective service. It is clearly mentioned in the company that they appoint a person with their skills and capabilities rather than his high qualification. Their perspective is to the employee an individual that can predict the situation that could be faced by the company in future (Draft, 2015). Google is Properly Managed by Its Managers The company believes that it is essential to maintain proper checks and balances on managers. The manager of the company must possess different qualities as a leader to ensure that he is a good manager. A chart is prepared by the company to ensure effectiveness in the managers to deliver their best to the organization. Eight qualities chart is prepared by the company leaders to ensure that the managers of the company are performing well to their respective task that is management. They have communicated their managers to follow the qualities mentioned in the chart to ensure effectiveness. The eight qualities in the chart are given below. 1. Be a good Coach. 2. Empower your team and do not micro-manage. 3. Express interest in employees’ success. 4. Be productive and results-oriented. 5. Be a good communicator and listen to your team. 6. Help your employees in career development. 7. Have a clear vision and strategy for the team. 8. Have key technical skills Role of Senior Management in the Change Eric Schmidt is the executive chairman of Google. His was the CEO of the company in 2011. His leadership practices could not be ignored for the effective management of the company. His best quality practices are given below. 1. Get to know the employees of the company. 2. Give motivation to the employees by providing rewards and promotion for effective performance. 3. Let the employees own the issues, which he suggests to be solved them by their efforts. 4. Allows the employees to perform outside the company hierarchy. 5. The performance must be reviewed by other employees in the organization that has respect for the impartiality. Qualities Supported by the Management The qualities that are possessed by the senior management of the company are the qualities that are mentioned in the qualities of good leadership in management subject. To have knowledge is the priority of an effective leader to make further strategies. The practice of self-assessment of problem and issues by the employees is effective for proper management practices. Maslow Motivation theory is also practiced by the senior management is also impressive. Proper checks and balances are required to be done for the effective management (Adeniyi & Adeniyi, 2010). Management Impact on Google The company is engaged in providing products and services in many parts of the world. The organization is changed due to the management changes in favor of the organization. The position of the company in international has risen due to the services provided by them. It is essential for the service organization to manage all the departments of the organization that provides services. Google departments are categorized in engineering, products, legal, sales and finance. These departments have their respective managers that are effective in managing all the operations of the department. The management has made it possible for the company to increase its credibility and reduce claims that are raised on the management issues. Google has now effective management from top to bottom and the leaders of the organization ensure evaluation. The management decision taken by the leaders of the organization have put a positive effect on Google. Suggestion for Including Innovative in the Company The company has to focus on an innovative strategy to be adopted by the employees and customers. The suggested innovative strategy is to train the employees for providing effective services to the customers of the organization. The company employs on the basis of prediction and skills of the employees. The company has to focus on training for enhancing the skills and abilities of employees. The communication must be effective to provide efficient services to the customers of the company. Effective communication and training can put a great impact on the consumers of the company (Lussier, 2008). Approach for the Innovative Idea A systematic approach will be applied for the implementation of training of employees within the organization. The company is emerged in making innovative products and providing uniform services to its customers. It has a direct relation with the systematic approach to implementing any strategy. The approach will be helpful in increasing the performance from the higher to lower level departments of the organization. All the departments including legal, marketing, sales, and finance will be beneficial from effective training that could derive significant profits to the organization. Customers and employees will appreciate the practice of training if it is practice from leadership to junior employees those contribute in increasing the performance of the company (Griffin, 2012). The Capability of Google in Adopting Change for customers The company has an ability to bring a change in its management to fulfill the needs of its customers. The changes mentioned in the paper were practiced by the company for the betterment in providing services to its customers. The company has enough capacity to increase its efficiency by adopting any change that is demanded by the market environment of the company. The market environment of the company is effective in deriving the benefits. The external environment allows the company to adopt technological and development changes that are incorporated into the demands of the customers, and market environment allows the company to adopt various changes in the company. Change Required in the Management Structure of the Company An important change that is required of the company is to exceed the authority and work of Human Resources Department to evaluate the performance of the senior managers in the company. They must follow the chart or plan for the self-assessment of the managers. There is a need to ensure that managers performing functions in their departments must follow the rules that are set by the company. The department must have the authority to ensure that chart for the managers must accordingly follow the good managers. Checks and balances on the performance of employees are necessary because they are in the driving seat that runs the company effectively. It is the duty of the leaders to provide initiatives to the department to ensure that they are doing well and performing their obligations towards the organization. The only way to success is the implication of change that could ensure the performance of senior managers and supervisors (Robbins & Mary, 2012). The leaders of the organization must analyze the ability. It is important to note that the department must be lead by the senior leader who has enough experience of serving within the company.
