Search, Taxonomy & Collaboration Tools Support Knowledge Workers & Knowledge Work Introduction Knowledge is identified as one of the most important requisites that has been initiating progression and development and has created a diverse impact on social development and even fostered successful progression of the corporate. With the progression in its social dimension and the complex nature of the business, knowledge management has emerged as the sole requisite based on the dimension of which, an organization can foster and ensure a creative domain. On a broader note, the creative index of the knowledge workers has been identified as initiating a diverse edge and enhancing its effectiveness to initiate progression and development. In this regard the search, taxonomy and collaboration tools have largely initiated the development of knowledge and enhanced the effectiveness of knowledge management for developing transparency and gain support towards knowledge development. Additionally, the essay intends to develop a better idea about the processes of how search, taxonomy and collaboration tools support knowledge management. Discussion According to the report published by the U.S. General Service Administration (2011), the knowledge workers are regarded as the people who focus on applying different approaches to analyze the knowledge they have gained and develop the same towards attaining new and progressive views. In this regard, it can be asserted that with the effective development of technical advancements, a large number of tools were incorporated for enhancing a process that is associated with synthesis of knowledge and initiating effective learning. Additionally, Fouché (2006) commented that the prospect of efficient knowledge management has initiated the strategies acting as a harness for managing power and facilitating knowledge progression. The taxonomy and other collaboration tools that include knowledge mapping tools, databases and others are identified to catalyze the processes of knowledge management and synthesizing effective power generation and organizational progression. Correspondingly, Stenmark and Lindgren (2006) affirmed that search dimension of tools primarily regarding search engines’ evaluation has acted as a critical factor for the development of intranet. This in turn has been a crucial denominator for supporting knowledge workers and knowledge work. ‘Search’ or search engine tool has opened up an avenue of opportunities for knowledge workers to interact amid each other to pass on the garnered knowledge base and gain further invaluable know-how. The statement has been further supported by Benbya, Passiante & Belbaly (2004) wherein the study findings depict that knowledge management has emerged to be the most important tools that has been initiating progressive development and affecting progression within the system. With the continuous change in the business environment, managing the diverse and complex business changes could only be mitigated with the effective management of knowledge. This management of knowledge, on the other hand, can be supported and progressed with the diverse use of collaborative tools, initiating succession within the society and supporting knowledge workers to develop their proficiency (Benbya, Passiante & Belbaly, 2004). Synthesis of knowledge has also been identified as the only path that has laid foundation towards the enormous level of discoveries. With the progression of the diverse tools and technology, there have been successful advancements in the process of knowledge gathering and synthesis, opening new avenues towards knowledge advancement. Commendably, with the integrated use of the collaborative tools, there have been substantial advancements within the level of knowledge available to the society or community players. The tools developed for the process of knowledge management have thus been creating diversity within the society and have been catalyzing processes that include personal knowledge management (Reinhardt, Schmidt, Sloep & Drachsler, 2011). The collaborative tools have integrated diverse processes initiating intensive learning and created diversity towards developing effectiveness of learning. With the use of diverse tools and effective approaches, the process of knowledge attainment and experimenting on the same has attained new heights besides allowing its better channelization (Razmerita, Kirchner, & Sudzina, 2009). Contextually, knowledge management has gained momentum within the industry and business domain owing to the fact that this strategic management approach has initiated specific advancement and effective growth as well as support within the business processes. Illustratively, knowledge management has become a part of every business irrespective of the mode of its operations and domain of its performances. For instance, organizations developing their approaches towards enhancing consumer bases are initiating diverse strategic tools for developing knowledge management for attaining consumer preferences. On the other hand, organizations dealing with healthcare management are initiating strategic management and enhancing their capacities based on infrastructural developments as well as creating a diverse progression based on knowledge management (Gebert, Geib, Kolbe & Brenner, 2003). Additionally, the role of the knowledge workers has been immense within the diverse field and with the support of the collaboration tools, which have been acting as a positive thrust towards developing the same. For instance, the knowledge mapping tools have been acting as a base for supporting the surveying process and enhancing the quality of knowledge. This in turn helped in understanding the exact needs of synthesizing knowledge towards attaining the successive goals (Reinhardt et al., 2011). With the effective support from the different technically advanced tools, such as those of the collaboration tools, the process of knowledge management has evolved. Correspondingly, people within the current global progression has been evaluating the diverse tools and enhancing the effectiveness of the performance largely. This has further supported development of transparency within the knowledge process to meet with the needs of its better management and have supported workers in the field to progress within their respective areas of knowledge management (Benbya et al., 2004). Conclusion Knowledge, being an integral part to the modern society, has been assessed and supported for developing both the personal as well as the social developments. With the effective progression of the tools associated with knowledge management, the effective knowledge synthesis has gained new heights. This can be justified with reference to the processes associated with the effective management of knowledge that has gained progress with the incorporation of various tools and technical developments. With the initiation and integration of the strategic tools, the knowledge workers are now able to enhance their skills and other attributes to meet with the needs of personal development and knowledge assessment. Hence, it can be concluded that as globalization has initiated rapid development within the field of business progression, enhancement of advanced technologies within the fields of knowledge management has also taken pace with greater degree of significance. Information technology and synthesis of tools have further initiated effective growth and enhanced the ability of the knowledge workers to develop their personal skill sets and attain excellence within the domain of knowledge management.
