Electrical Contacts Here at Okoa we pre-plan our facility to securely implement the safety of our employees with good quality equipment. The lay out of our machines will be set up to establish a good working area that will increase the overall effectiveness of supervision and minimize material handling. The company will meet all federal regulations being in full compliance while minimizing the effect of intermatelics growth on contact resistance. The facility requirements in Okoa will include sufficient space to properly handle company needs. Having complete in-house capabilities, our technologies and working experience will prove to be superior with quality and efficiency. Some desirable attributes of our shipping and receiving facilities plans include staging areas, storage areas, and buffer /carriers that have directed flow paths. Good housekeeping will establish safe operation and minimize damage. The transport equipment used to move material inside the factory consists of five main types of equipment. Industrial trucks, automated guided vehicles, rail-guided vehicles, conveyors, and hoists and cranes each of which are strategically placed within the factory shipping and receiving areas. All activities in these locations are properly designed to avoid any circumstances. Facility requirements used to receive and ship goods in Okoa include sufficient space to stage and spot carriers and also to palletize or containerize which ever is needed for the production order being shipped out. The shipping office will house information on purchase orders that allow for report generation. With the help of pre-receiving, peak loads are reduced creating opportunity to influence the unit load configurations of inbound material. This will prove to be useful when trying to distinguish between the vendor and receiver’s information systems. Post shipping activities will be documented by the receiver in order to properly communicate with the vendor as well as the customer whenever there becomes a shipping issue. These Okoa Electrical Contacts post-shipping processes will eliminate any mistakes and miscommunication with issues such as returned goods, returnable containers, returning carriers, and shipping schedules. The aisles within the company are used to transport materials and equipment. It will become one our most import traits to keep loss time injuries to minimal. With adequate spacing and speed regulation of fork lifts and tow motors, the Okoa Electrical Contacts industry will maintain safe and efficient movement of materials, equipment and, employee personnel. We designed the of aisles to be long and straight stretching from point A to point B with minimal turns and corners. The width was designed so that workers could stand or sit comfortably within their respective area or work zone. The equipment and tooling machinery here at Okoa is specifically designed to produce high quality tools necessary for precision stamping. We have gone to the utmost extremes to modernize our facilities and maintain our equipment by scheduling routine preventative maintenance in order to achieve the highest rate of production possible. Most modern equipments such as CAD/CAM and EDM are used for tool planning and production by our best trained and experienced workers. Our tools are integrated with monitoring equipment which is available in module systems. Depending on the requirements, they are then made from appropriate materials such as steel. Very high tolerant parts are continuously produced by our modern stamping and molding machines. There are several different types of molding machines that are used within Okoa Electrical Contacts. The smaller sized machines produce strip molded parts and plastic parts while the larger ones produce inlay molded parts. All of these molding processes are integrated into stamping and bending operations with the required presses. Okoa Electrical Contacts offers extensive experience and a comprehensive set of coating technology services, including precious metal baths, processes for technical, decorative applications and virtually every job shop plating process. We provide efficient refining techniques of all materials containing precious metals. Using an interesting mixture of traditional and innovative technologies, precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium are uniquely melted due to the softness of the pure mineral or element in itself. Other materials such as alloys containing brass, copper, or bronze can be used together to bond producing either precious metals or metal alloys. Once melted, the new material becomes processed into granulated metals.Once the new material is transported into our chemical laboratory, our quality assurance team will examine to determine the exact precious metal content of the material. Using various processes to refine such metals, electrolysis and homogenization methods will be controlled to succeed in our company’s production needs. In all that we do here at Okoa Electrical Contacts, our Environmental Awareness/Environmental Protection program comes as a top priority. We believe firmly in the term” Sustainable Development” and we do everything we can maintain a network of technologies that is developed to protect the environment. An example of the systems in our network is the waste water produced as a result of refining. We take the liberty to always separate it from hazardous substances. Actual threshold values are kept below legal limits and we purify contaminated waste gas. Efficient filter systems were installed to keep Okoa Electrical Contacts green and clean. Our storage systems are made to be eco friendly as well as being good for the company budget. Raw materials and incomplete production orders are temporarily stored to reduce the storage time and space in the production area. Finished goods will be placed in our warehousing and distribution center only for a short period of time before delivered to the final customer. The storage methods and equipment used are classified into two main categories conventional and automated. Our conventional storage methods include bulk storage in which we store items in an open floor area with rack systems, shelving bins, and drawer storages. This method is quite labor intensive as workers will manually put materials into storage and then retrieve them out again when needed. With the automated storage systems, the manual labor described in the conventional storage method will be eliminated. We are currently working to develop two different types of automated storage systems, the retrieved system and carousel system. Mathematical models are being used to predict the performance characteristics of each automated storage system. Soon we will have completed this project to begin implementation of the new automated system. This new system will include the containers used to hold individual items during handling as well as the equipment used to load and package the containers. These containers include pallets, boxes, baskets, barrels, pails, and drums. Palletizers and depalletizers will also be installed to automatically load and unload cartons on and off of pallets in a simultaneous rhythmic flow. The Workspace and work flow at Okoa can be managed more efficiently and waste can be eliminated by using the 5S methodology. Organizing each area of production will improved the flow of workplace efficiency reducing the process of task assignment unevenness. In keeping our established organization, everything is assigned to a specific location so time is not wasted by looking for things. During the daily routine cycles of work, it will become easier to locate items and materials needed for production. The 5S methodology will also have an effect on our employee’s daily decision making skills. Being confident that the materials needed for use will be there on demand allows new orders for parts and equipment to come in a timely matter being accurately maintained and produced by our logistics department. Recent studies show that good decision making helps to establish clear understandings between employees with a daily dialogue that contains instruction and agreements of compromise to complete a specific task at hand. The implementation of the production leveling approach will serve as a helping hand to minimize waste. With good team work and a strong level of supervisory communication, fluctuations within the production cycle should be greatly reduced and our facility should become a cleaner environment to work in. The long term demand here at Okoa Electrical Contacts is to maintain the stability of the production process. The variability of demand and the frequency of shipments will help to keep our inventory levels proportional. This is the state of mind we like to keep throughout the factory stretching all the way to the final assembly line. Thus assuring the company that production fluctuations are kept to zero and batches are made as small as possible. Production will be managed more efficiently by the reduced batch size because it has shown to have positive effects on the company’s cash flow, WIP levels, and project completion time. The production methods and bottleneck operations used by Okoa Electrical Contacts are designed to fulfill most requirements and batch sizes from a few thousand to many millions of tools and parts. In bottleneck operation, our network systems will communicate each process and sequences of how to ship orders between our procurement and operations department. Our bottleneck operation will show when products are made and can only be planned for immediate shipments for just - in – time (JIT) orders. The utilization of the bottleneck operation is very effective and efficient because it produces no excess inventory. For this purpose setup time is reduced and fresh production parts can be packed, palletized, and shipped on the same day. Works Cited 1. Abkowitz, Mark, D.
