Project Management This project basically deals with two different organizations within Healthcare Industry and the Oil and Gas Industry in Houston. In this essay different types of risks have been highlighted for both the sectors. The essay also includes some methodical ways to reduce the risks in an organization and provide Quality output. In addition to this the study has articulated how Oil and Gas Industry has greater relevance to Houston economy. Introduction Process of organizing, controlling resources, activity of planning, motivating and follow protocols to scientifically deal with daily problems are the key features that minimizes risks in an organization and hence known as Project Management. Proper Project Management means optimum use of resources available to complete a job in a stipulated time in order to achieve organizational Goals. It also requires understanding of employee safety and integrity to reduce the risks available in an organization. The most important part to be kept in mind by an administrator for proper functioning of an organization is quality improvement and risk management. These two strategies have been the most common methods for different organization to overcome the present challenges and plan for future aspects. Risk Management and Quality improvement were operated separately in past. This essay deals with the major relevance of economy in Houston. There are two industries which plays most important role in the Houston economy i.e. The Oil and Gas and The Health Care. The discussion below spotlights the major industry for economic growth in Houston. Discussion Health Care Industry Health Care Industry mainly comprises of Hospitals and Clinics. Healthcare is one of the most important sectors that deal with public safety. Previously the quality improvement and risk management factors were operated separately in terms of individual duty and healthcare organizations. The most important challenge in a Health Care Industry is ensuring patient safety by providing all necessary support and equipments required. The significant aspect in a Health Care Industry is to enhance the Quality of service provided to patients by providing trained staffs and technically advanced equipments which can cure patients quickly with less torment. Healthcare organizations previously did not have different department for Risk Management which was difficult for the organization to maintain a safe and secure atmosphere. At present most of the health care organizations in Houston have separate departments for Risk Management and Quality Improvement. This has reduced the overload in subsequent departments. Due to implementation of such kind of administration the safety in Hospitals has increased and there is a proper communication between patients and staffs in a hospital. Health Care Organizations have always contributed in economy of a nation. Houston is one of the major cities in entire United States which consists of a huge population. Proper risk management and high-yielding Quality needs to be incorporated in this city so that HealthCare Organizations in this sector can generate proper economy in the city (Shirley, 2011). Health Care Organizations play a very important role to grow the nation’s economy hence proper management in the organizations is very much required for growth and development of the organization and the city. There have been many surveys in Houston for betterment of Healthcare Organizations, according to the reports it has been seen that low-quality care has a negative impact on the Organizational goals. Failure to assimilate quality factors and risk management can lead to ineffective and incomplete solutions. The organizational structure in a Health Care Sector also plays an important role to ensure safety by reducing greater risks. There are certain methodical ways to prevent risks and deliver optimum quality for risk managers. There should be separate but parallel tracks for risk management and quality improvement progression. A summary should be incorporated to understand the forces that have brought risk management and quality together. A review should be done over the current functions of Risk Management and Quality Factors to understand where they separate and where they overlap. There should be an effort made to align quality and risk management and a proper suggestion should be taken in order to maintain it. These are some of the most important factors that are required to keep in mind to deliver maximum safety, security and advancement in Health Care Organizations. These were some of the factors that has\a direct effect in Health Care Organization. There are also some important issues facing Healthcare Industry that needs to be taken care of (Blokdijk, 2007). Loss of Accreditation can reduce the value of a healthcare industry drastically. Proper Outsourcing is required for employees so that cost control remains intact and maximum benefit can be provided to the patients along with substantial profit. Advanced Technologies should be implemented in order to provide accurate and quick services. Corporate inspection helps the organization to work properly and discriminately. Regulatory Issues are needed to be taken care of as a when required. Proper Research should be done of any unidentified problem which can result downfall of the Organization. Loss of Federal funding should not be there as a Healthcare Organizations can suffer from great financial crisis because of loss of federal funding. External or Foreign issues should be taken care of appropriately. Outstanding business along with high safety and security can be achieved with technical advancement. Education and proper training of staffs in an organization is equally important as it can provide proper communication between patient and organizational members, as it is very much necessary now-a-days. Process of understanding business objectives and risks correlate and they can affect the reaching of entity’s goals (Houston & Bove, 2007). In Houston Healthcare Organization frames a very important picture in terms of Economic growth. Houston as we know is the largest city in Texas and fourth-largest city in United States in consists of a huge population with high medical resources available. Hence it has a great significance as it provides health-aid and safety to most of the population of United States. Oil and Gas Industry Oil and Gas Industry is one of the most important industrial sectors in Houston apart from the Healthcare sector. Oil and Gas industry regulates huge economy in the United States and Houston is one of the cities in the U.S. where there is huge production and refining of Oil and Gas. The Oil and Gas industry in United States provide jobs to a huge population. Proper management in terms of risks is required for safety and effective growth of this industry. Employee safety and security are the two important factors that need to be taken care of to reduce the risks at work place and to increase quality and productivity. There are certain risks that are needed to be taken care of while managing and administrating this sector. Access to reserves and the political restrictions are the most important hurdles in proper development of this industry. The demand of Oil and Natural Gas is very high in the Global market. In order to satisfy market demand there is optimum utilization of resources. This leads to mental fatigue on employees and reduces the safety factor. While utilization of resources safety should be the prime concern as an unsafe work atmosphere can lead to great disasters in this kind of industry. The energy policy is very uncertain in this industry. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is lowering down, due to this there are federal policies that are being introduced by overcoming the deepwater regulations (Badiru & Osisanya, 2013). This is a high risk in terms of production in these industries. There should be technically advanced equipments which can provide safety at work. The administrators involved in dealing with risk management should provide subsequent support to employee safety for outstanding Quality. There is price rise in Global market with respect to this industry, there should be cost containment so that the organization can provide substantial profit and simultaneously support the Houston economy. Impose of high tax rate reduce the actual price of the product and organization suffers with less profit. There should be applicable measures to make the price of the product sustainable even after application of taxes so that industry can work prosperously. Health, security and ecological risks are rapidly increasing because of increase in demand and intricate operational challenges. There should be proper measures to be kept in mind along with Quality. There is one other severe challenge, about 22 percent employees lack proper qualification as there are employees differently qualified working for same field. This can lead to serious accidents unknowingly (Plunkett, 2008). There should be subsequent measures to be taken while hiring of staffs. One of the most important challenges is also the climate change concerns. Adverse climate change can have very serious affects while working for employees and organization (Bittner & Gregorc, 2010). There should be new and advanced equipments used while working and also in case of bad climate work should be upheld for some time. It reduces little bit production but in long term industry does not fall into a bad shape. These are some of the most important risk management skills that can be applicable while utilization of resources in Oil and Gas industries. The above discussion basically dealt with the risks in each sector and the possible ways the risks can be normalized. According to a study about Houston’s economy it has been revealed that the Oil and Gas industry has greater relevance in Houston’s economy. Houston comprises of largest petrochemical built-up area in the world. This city consists of more than 3000 energy-related enterprises (Inkpen & Moffett, 2011). Houston has been ranked 33rd among nation’s 361 MSAs on per-capita income at US$36,852, which stands around 11.5% higher than the entire U.S. figure which is US$33,050 in the year 2012. The Healthcare industry does contribute towards the Houston’s economy but not more than the Oil and Gas industry as this industry out-puts products that are of huge demand in global market (Tuener, 2005). Hence Houston’s economy is mainly regulated by Oil and Gas industry which is substantially more than Healthcare Industry. Conclusion There are several subsequent evidences from the above discussion which correspond to risk management and quality and their significance in the organization. There are two kinds of industries have discussed in this essay, such as the Healthcare industry and the Oil and Gas Industry. There are different kinds of risks for both the industries and there are certain methodical ways to overcome those risks. Lack of proper implementation of ideas and solutions can lead to disasters for a Oil and Gas Industry similarly lack of proper training of staffs and low quality of equipments can lead to insecurity of patients and treatments can be dangerous for patients causing the patient and the organization harm. The most important role an administrator needs to play is to understand the challenges, reduce the risks involved, deliver a high quality output and maintain safety and security in the working atmosphere. This essay also describes about a city in Texas known as Houston. The essay deals with Houston’s economy and the industry that has greater relevance in growing Houston’s economy. Numbers show that Oil and Gas Industry is the most significant and profitable organization in Houston and it has greater relevance in Houston’s economy also in the entire United States.
