There are several key workplace elements which are pivotal for companies to monitor success and maintain long-range goals. One of the key elements is communication. The communication in a workplace must be effective, clear and concise. Any negative communication in an organization can lead to employee slander, misinformation and adverse rumors. Offensive language in workplace can create inappropriate working environment. This can often lead to reduction of productivity. Organization must implement certain steps to ensure that employees are protected from offensive language. A productive workplace can be maintained by lessening of negative communication. The use of inappropriate language can be nullified by application of new company policy, rules and regulation. This research paper will discuss and analyze about the destructive effects of offensive and inappropriate language in workplace. Analysis In business world, the use of appropriate words in workplace is vital for every employee. Inappropriate and offensive language within workplace can affect the credibility of other employee and colleague negatively. Workplace can be more peaceful by setting appropriate rules and regulation. This implementation can enable organization to maintain offensive language in workplace.The complaints on human resource departments are increasing due to the rise of inappropriate or vulgar language in workplace. This rapid increase on number of court filings by employees is due to lack of specific language code in organization. Specific language code is notified on an employee handbook. Certain policies are also implemented by many organizations to fight against racial discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace (Falconer & Bagshaw, 2009). There is a big difference between language being acceptable or offensive. People working in an organization may attempt to comment on certain things which can be regarded by other employee as insulting or acceptable. Some of the phrases and words can be offensive to every people in the workplace. There are certain words which might be regarded as offensive for some people. The perception of language and words varies from person to person. But the use of offensive language can create huge negative impact on the organization. The effects of inappropriate language in workplace can demoralize staff morale, staff conflict and diminish the productivity of organization. The drawback of use of vulgar language is enormous. It can create bad image bout any firm. It has been surveyed that cause of the issue is due to use of prohibited language on music, television and films. The increase of inappropriate language is partly blamed on the use of vulgar language on most of the music, television, films, games and social media sites.The use of inappropriate language in the workplace can worsen the atmosphere of work and can cost companies for including specific lawsuits to diminish the issue. There is significant increase on the number of complaint filed by employee on the use of offensive language in workplace. One of the adverse effects of use of inappropriate language can lead to lessening of productivity. Increase in productivity of organization is dependent on the employees. Employees are pivotal for betterment of every organization. It enables to maintain sustainable growth on future. Negative communication in the workplace can slander the employees. This can lead to development of certain rumors which might not be true. The potential cause of actions can be nullified by certain employees. But some employee may take it as an inappropriate and offensive. This leads to the increase of misinformation and miscommunication among employees (Nelson & Quick, 2012). The working environment can be seriously dented and raise many negative claims. In this time of globalization, it is vital for every organization to maintain its sustainability for future due to escalation in rate of market competitiveness. Offensive language can obstruct the efficiency of organization. Strong business relationship in an organization can be maintained by effective communication process. The flow of work is affected by the miscommunication and use of abusive language in workplace. The flow of miscommunication occurs so fast that it sometime becomes hard for any company to nullify the issue. But providing proper guidelines to deal with the complaints can help to increase the morale of employee. Staff morale can be diminished due to negative communication and use of abusive language. This can hamper the work environment of every organization. Safe workplace environment enables to increase work efficiency, boost employee morale and increase profit margin.The foremost element of every successful organization is to maintain safe work environment. When unintentionally employee in workplace overlooked then it can heavily expose the risk of organization. The confidence of every staff members in the company can benefit to develop productive work (Varcarollis & Halter, 2012). The use of inappropriate language in the workplace can create destructive impact on employees and organization. Some person in organization may use racist language in the workplace which cannot be tolerated by other employees. The effect of offensive language can be sometimes long-term and traumatic. Employees can often withdraw to communicate with others. The quality of the work can be severely affected by the use of inappropriate language in the workplace. There is certain level of trust among employee and employer. The relationship of confidence and trust can be hampered. Discussion The use of inappropriate or abusive language can be sometimes common in the workplace. But it is not always acceptable by every employee. The negative impact of abusive language is much more powerful and long lasting. Certain steps must be implemented by every organization to protect employee from inappropriate language in the workplace. The rise of vulgar language is amplified due to the rising of use of forbidden language in television, music and movies. This is the cause of use of abusive and vulgar language in workplace. Despite having certain pitfalls, it is pivotal of every organization to take certain steps regardless of the issue (Cohen & Eisdorfer, 2011). First step is to implement certain work policy to deal with the issue. Certain framework of effective procedures and policy enables any firm to hold grip against the use of inappropriate language in the workplace. Effective protocols must be written in work policy to restrict employee using and bad language. It can only reputation of organization and diminish the brand image. Certain spot checks can be implemented to check out other forms of communication and mails. This step can help to view and notice employees so that they cannot breach the procedures. The application of policy must be notified to every employee in the organization. Certain training must be provided to ensure that every employee in the organizationis aware of the work policy. Effective training sessions must be offered to the employees. Employees must understand the policy implemented so that it prevent the use of any inappropriate or offensive language in the workplace. Employee can be aware of the policy initiated by company with the help of simple memo. The impact of use of abusive language can be immense. This can lead to the downfall of organization. But implementation of certain policies and training can help to negotiate the issue. Work environment can be uncomfortable by the use of bad language. Guidelines that are covered in the policy must be strict. Employees must obey the guidelines or can be penalized if not followed.Potential lawsuits and appropriate legal actions can help to strengthen the position of company (Killick, 2006). Employees who are accused of discrimination, harassment and offensive language must be penalized. In some case employee might overreact to the use of inappropriate language. This situation can be nullified by quiet word to the employee. Employee must be provided reassurance by the employer. The use of abusive language can break the trust and confidence of employee. Every employee must take the issue seriously. Action must be taken against the use of offensive words in the workplace. Lawsuits can be expensive and hard for small business firm to implement. But the use of work policy can protect businesses. Complaints after the use of improper language can be high. But it is vital for organization to deal with the every problem. These steps can help to recover the workplace environment and make it more productive. Conclusion This can be concluded that the effects of inappropriate and abusive language in the workplace can be enormous. Healthy environment in the workplace enables employees to be committed and truly engaged to the work. Outstanding workplace is vital for every organization. It can help to improve the productivity of businesses. The adverse impact of issue is damaging the work culture ethics of organization. The use of abusive words can hamper the work environment and shrinkage the productivity. The image of the firm can be severely affected by the cause.
