Emirates Airline has used the innovation of its strategy in order to maintain a competitive advantage that is sustainable. Many aspects of human resources and planning that have been applied soundly have resulted in the rapid growth of the airline. The leadership has to identify the strengths and opportunities and also the weakness and threats to be able to discern the best way forward. The success of Emirates Airline has been realized through hard work and devotion to a specified course of action and elaborate systems of operations that enhance competence. This report looks critically at the various aspects responsible for the success of Emirates Airlines and the challenges that the leadership has to deal with to remain competitive and efficient. This has been achieved through SWOT analysis, PESTLE analysis and looking at other aspects of the human resources of Emirates Airline.
  • Company Background

Emirates Airlines also referred to as the Fly Emirates is a major airline in the Middle East and also the main subsidiary of the Emirates Group. It is the national airline of Dubai, United Arab Emirates and has the capacity of operating one thousand, nine hundreds and ninety flights every week, from its hub at Dubai International Airport to almost one hundred and fifty-seven destinations in fifty-five countries across six continents in the entire world. According to Schwab Blanke and Chiesa (2005), the airline also operates the four longest non-stop commercial flights in the world from Dubai to Sao Paulo, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston, all on the Boeing 777-200LR and has one of the latest Airbus A380 aircraft for destinations such as Bangkok. The Emirates Group to which Emirates Airlines is a subsidiary has employed over forty thousand employees from over one hundred nationalities and is wholly owned by the Dubai Government directly through the Corporation of Dubai (Rojewski, 2004).
