In general, terms, this organization is concerned with guiding its clients in this era of constant technology change as they maintain their focus on attaining their business goals. This paper aims to enlighten any company that is thinking of doing business with CSC Corporation; it gives the facts to the management teams of various clients firms to consider going for CSC’s services. Market scope As discussed earlier, CSC offers a range of IT services that suit many firms operating in different industries. In the modern society, for a business organization to perform competitively, it must adopt the new technologies and use them in its operations. Therefore, CSC as a technological company has a wide market for its products because every firm in all industries is adopting these technologies to boost their performance (Zhang, 2013). CSC has various customers from different industries who come for its products and services. Some of the common industries that companies that buy CSC’s services include; healthcare technology and services industry, mining industry, petroleum enterprise industry, household items manufacturing industry, Electronic appliances industry, Food and drinks industry and many more industries (CSC, 2014). This means that CSC Company offers products and services that are varied in nature hence, serving a wide market. Not only does CSC Corporation offer its services to a business firm, but also, it extends them to government agencies. Most governments need to adopt new technologies to improve their functions. Technological advancement is occurring very fast, implying that business should position strategically in order to cope up with the new changes. Timely adjustments to the dynamics of technology can be a competitive strategy any company can adopt to dominate the market (Klewitz, and Erik, 2014). Therefore, CSC firm can be one important partner to any client firm when it admires to become dominant on the market. Management structure of SCS Company Like any other big corporation, CSC firm has a matrix organization. This means that it has both vertical and horizontal structure of management. The vertical structure tends to concentrate on the industries. They design better products and service that would satisfy the needs of particular industries (CSC, 2014). CSC corporation realized that for any business organization to thrive well, it must not only produce quality products that can be sold at better prices, but learn the needs and preferences of the customers so that they get satisfied with the products and services offered. When the customers get satisfied, they keep coming for more, this way; they would build loyalty to the products and services of the provider (DeSantis, 2012). Therefore, concentrating on particular industries makes the management identifies the needs of their customers; hence, the company designs those products that suit the preferences. Horizontal structure aims to create products and services that serve across all industries. All the firms in all industries can use same technology products. For example, every firm can use IT accounting and record keeping services. Therefore, Horizontal management structure concentrates on developing these general products (Cai, Haowen, Yuan, and Yi, 2014). This in a broad sense implies that CSC Company has a full scope of its operations thus; it has the potential of offering its services to any firm from any industry. Any company thinking to go for CSC services will not regret because of a variety of the products and services available. Competitive strategies of CSC For CSC Company to become a renowned company in Australia and overseas uses various marketing strategies to remain favorable among others. From an interview, Horton Michael noted a number of the competitive strategies that this company has adopted. These strategies are the ones that are sailing this company to higher heights despite of the existing competition and even unpleasant business conditions (CSC, 2014). Examples of the competitive strategies include expansion of operations where the company trades both locally and internationally. Most competitors of CSC only operates in Australia, they cannot operate overseas (CSC, 2014). Therefore, CSC exploits this opportunity to, makes large volume of sales, and even creates more trade partners outside Australia. Another competitive strategy, which this company employs, is collaborating with its competitors in accomplishing certain functions (Zabala and Jon, 2014). Horton, the vice president, stated that when they collaborate with the competitors, they eliminate competition that would have existed. This company uses to counter competition especially in foreign markets (Choi and Phillip, 2014). Another competing strategy is that this company focuses on creating good relationship and trust from its customer firms. Once a new firm approaches CSC for its services, the management ensures that the client get satisfied with the services and maintain communication, extent other miscellaneous services that the client company may need. Such a move, when taken by any firm, helps in creating trust and loyalty in the market (Wei, Jianrong and Yixiong, 2009). When this company encounters a dispute with its customers, it initiates a discussion in a consensus way so that each party has a win-to-win resolution that would leave them satisfied. This shows that the company re cares for its reputation and the concern of its customers. Regular training of the employees is another approach the company uses to improve its services. When employees are regularly trained on the current matters affecting the organization, they apply the new skills in their discharge of the duties (Tassey, 2013). This increases efficiency and performance of the organization. Engaging in innovation process, is also much used by CSC Company to compete in this industry. Since it is a technology firm, it has given the innovation strategy a priority because most of its products and services come because of innovation (CSC, 2014). Thus, looking at the company’s competitive strategies, it shows that any client company that approaches CSC Company for business it would find enough support that is needed. Management techniques in CSC As revealed by the vice President Horton Michael in an interview, CSC corporation applies various management techniques to carry out its day-to-day functions. One of the common techniques used by this company is teamwork. This interview has shown that Horton admits that one individual can accomplish no work; rather a task can only accomplish successfully by a team of individuals (CSC, 2014). They come together and combine their skills, knowledge and experience to find a solution to a particular situation. Thus, for CSC to ascend to this height, it has use collaboration as a tool of management. Therefore, the team but not a specific offer its products and services; thus, the customers enjoy being served by a group of expertise who give them enough on various technological issues that can affect their operations. Secondly, CSC has project managers who are specialized in a specific field, therefore, when a client comes for the services of this company, the relevant project manager is sent with this customer to go and ensure that the project is implemented successfully (CSC, 2014). The manager accompanies skilled workers in the same field to give support. It is now clear that the client company that wants the services of CSC would have the easy time in initiating the services in its operations because of the good project management personnel from the seller. The third management style that is used by CSC Company is collective decision making. This is where particular decisions concerning the entire company are solved collectively (Klewitz and Erik, 2014). All the stakeholders in the company are involved in solving this individual situation. The management seeks opinions from the employees from various departments, checks comment or feedback of the customers before arriving at particular decisions that concern the whole organization. This means that the company uses a democratic style of management where each person is free to make suggestions and opinions over the issues that affecting the company (CSC, 2014). This management strategy assures the customers that in case there would be an issue that may concern them and the company, credible decision would be arrived at because every stakeholder would be involved (Marin and Ionara, 2013). Corporate Social responsibility of CSC CSC Company like other mature firms, get involved in the taking care of the surrounding society and the environment. In its functions, there is a way in which this company in benefiting the society and improving the environment. One good example is that the technological products and services offered by this company are designed to cause less harm to the environment (CSC, 2014). In other terms, we can say CSC has gone green. Its products do not affect the environment negatively. One way a firm can conserve the environment is to manufacture products that are environment friendly (Choi, Young and Phillip, 2014). Manufacturing forms must make biodegradable products. These products can be decomposed to reduce the menace of environmental pollution. Therefore, CSC produces technical products that favor the environment. Thus, the clients firms that come for these products would operate their business well without interfering with the surrounding (CSC, 2014). The second way CSC practice social responsibility is extending of advisory services to its customers. It also does this to the government agencies on how to apply the new technologies on their operations. These extra services extended to the clients, and government is meant to improve the operations of various sectors (CSC, 2014). Another way this company is practicing corporate responsibility is through offering free training to the employees to improve their knowledge and skills in various departments. Free regular training equips the employees with necessary skills to use in their duties. On one hand, the company does this to improve the efficiency of its human resource but, on the other hand, the employees gain more knowledge, which they can USE on their daily activities. Provision of corporate social responsibility services would be an advantage to the customer firm that can make business deal with CSC Company. Conclusion Information technology industry is the engine that is enhancing technological advancement in the society. The information age has enabled people to be more ambitious and creative thus, innovating technological devices and processes that assist in the operations of various duties in organizations. CSC Corporation operates in this dynamic industry; its services are often altered because of the innovations. The fact that it is an IT company, it faces a challenge of being in the forefront in involving in innovative activities so that it can serve other firms in different industries. In spite of this problem, the company has managed to propel to greater heights in terms of service provision to its clients. The future of this firm can be well understood by looking at its history. Its current state is quite different from the past because of the transformation that has occurred due to digital technologies. This means that when the changes in technology go at the same rate, the future state will be quite different from the current state. The company has positive future prospects because of the situations that we have seen. First, the company has a wide market, the company is diversifying its operations, it has stable financial base, it has skilled workforce, and it is an innovative firm. These factors would make this company to be even bigger in future. Therefore, it would be a good idea for a firm that is looking for an IT firm to assist in technological issues to consider CSC Company because it is a has a bright future.
