"Glucose Control and Cardiovascular Outcomes: Reorienting Approach" is a decent example of a paper on the cardiovascular system.
Studies are being conducted by major research institutes around the world pointing to the relationship that exists between mortality and morbidity levels and cardiovascular disease. This is especially for patients that suffer from diabetes. One article, ‘Glucose control and cardiovascular outcomes: Reorienting approach,’ by Romesh Khardori and Diep Nguyen lightly touches on the strides made in the medical care of patients suffering from diabetes mellitus, especially on the microvascular difficulties that most patients suffer. However, the main issue the article chose to examine was the strides, or lack thereof, taken to curb the rising macrovascular impediments that most patients with diabetes mellitus endure (Khardori & Nguyen, 2012). Dealing with these impediments could pave the way for the right form of treatment for diabetics, which would mean longer life for most of them. This paper will review the article, and examine some of the ways it could be used to assist physicians in caring for their diabetic patients.

It is through the article that individuals can identify some of the issues that surround diabetic patients, and how some of them are getting or not getting the help they need. Globally, diabetes has been identified as a disease that is ever on the rise, and personally, I believe it is a disease that receives little attention despite its prevalence. The mortality and morbidity levels of most diabetics may be closely tied to cardiovascular disease, which is estimated to take ten years off an individual’s life (Khardori & Nguyen, 2012). According to the article, people with diabetes are more likely to suffer from CVD, and it is only through the reduction of the complications that diabetics can enjoy a longer life. The information provided in the article on the various risks associated with diabetics and their complications can allow individuals to do something to improve the health situation in countless regions.

One way is to increase the awareness of diabetes and its relationship with CVD. A large number of people may be familiar with diabetes, but not many may be familiar with the other diseases that increase the risk associated with it. By raising awareness; patients, physicians, and the healthier population may be prepared to deal with the prevailing disease that not many people are discussing (Khardori & Nguyen, 2012). Furthermore, it would be next to impossible to convince people of the health risks associated with diabetes without this information. That being said, it would only help the cause of health promotion if individuals had somewhere to access this information. I would, therefore, have to create an avenue where individuals can access information without having to go far. The internet and other social media fronts could be the perfect avenue to do this. I believe that this will work toward health promotion if people took the time to visit some of these avenues.

In conclusion, this article acts as an eye-opener to some of the things that most people do not pay attention to, especially when it comes to CVD and diabetes. The manner in which the article has been presented provides individuals with a way to approach the information provided, and use that information to their advantage. I believe that this is one of the major strengths of the article. However, some of the terms used may not be simple to understand, especially for individuals not familiar with the medical language. This acts as a major letdown, because people may not want to be bombarded with words they cannot understand. All in all, the article provides a unique feel into some of the various impediments that diabetics face and the hurdles they go through to live a long and fulfilling life. I would refer the article to most of my colleagues and hope that they find the information vital and informative as I did.
