"Child Care Policy in Florida State University" is a perfect example of a paper on the health system. A policy is a set of legal rules and regulations that govern a practice or activity in society. In addition to that, it ties an individual to follow them to them later. They are set in a manner that those who breach them may end up facing the consequences and tough punitive legal measures.I recently read through a local policy article that left me in total discomfort. The article was published on the second of July this year (2020).

The Florida State University as in many years abided by the childcare policy and relied on it to foster smooth operation of duties between the University employees and staff. However, the current coronavirus pandemic that has greatly affected all sectors in the world hit them immensely. As a result that, they made some changes to the childcare policy to enable the employees to conduct their duties and take care of their children as they worked remotely. This was significantly necessary as all daycares were closed, forcing children to stay home.

Well, the university as an institution has been closed too but there are some duties that employees must attend to however much they are doing them from home. Logically, health matters must be taken care of first and everyone’s safety during this pandemic should be highly emphasized and fostered. Amid all these life-threatening challenges posted by a coronavirus, the basic needs must be met by the end of the day. There is a heated debate over the resumption of normal day-to-day activities such as reopening schools and allowing other businesses to resume.

However, the main dilemma and point of concern is the rate at which mortalities related to coronavirus are continuously reported and effects felt all over Florida and the United States as a whole. The university staff were shocked and failed to understand the reason why the policy that had been earlier recommended to ease their work was allegedly being withdrawn. This was an implication that they (employees) would no longer conduct their duties remotely as they took care of their children as they did it earlier.

This stirred up massive complaints and threats from the employees. The employees’ main concerns were how they would re-organize themselves and find ways to take care of their children amid this tough situation. They were earnestly dissatisfied with this move as some of them argued that they managed to attend to their children and successfully executed their duties however much burdening it was. Their grievance was to push the earlier policy to continue if the pandemic still lasted with minimal chances of the daycare centers being reopened.

The children require much attention and care from their parents to keep them aware of the glaring pandemic. Notably, without close care, guidance and monitoring, they would be highly susceptible to the virus and t their lives would be at extremely high risk. The staff has experienced pay cuts as the entire economy of Florida has dropped by a relatively higher margin. Therefore, arranging for daycare personnel would subject them to a financial dilemma as there may be some existing constraints already.

They unceremoniously welcomed the news about possible reinstatement into the previous policy, where they were not allowed to do their parental roles. They felt demotivated and some were almost giving up their jobs as the change would be less achievable. Better still, their backlash and expression of dissatisfaction with the change of policy saw the stakeholders get back to the drawing board. They withdrew it with immediate effect before it stirred up more tension and possible strikes whose onset was awaiting.

The policy traumatized a good number of the university employees and staff at large and would possibly lead to mental health issues among the employees. The policy was fair to the staff within the faculty as it excluded them from the scope, and this would escalate a lot of condemnations from the other employees as they would feel discriminated upon. In their quest for equality, they would end up getting into loggerheads with the faculty staff members who were favored by being excluded from the policy.

This issue greatly captivated my attention as I reflected on the number of children who would be exposed to the novel coronavirus, as their parents and guardians would not take care of them for as long as they would be attending to their duties in the university. Policy That is, if they complied.Secondly, for some time I felt mentally disturbed as my Mum who is the sole breadwinner happened to be an employee in the university. This was a bit upsetting as anything would happen in their quest for Justice.

I wondered what would become of our future in case my mom ended up losing her job at the university. Coronavirus has rendered many families jobless and to some, setting a meal on the table has become a total hassle. Therefore, when the policy issue came up, and there was a backlash from the employees, I knew that it was the onset of misfortunes that would befall my family. The article is completely un neutral as it has not clearly highlighted the main reason as to why this policy was to be implemented by the University administration.

It, therefore, left the employees guessing and wondering what might have fostered the need for its implementation. In the future, I would influence the policy by seeking justice from the relevant legal organization such as the court of law.The reason for doing this would be so clear because the university administration has not given clear reasons as to why they would implement such policy, that would affect a good number of its employees both socially and economically.
