"Can Balanced and Nutritious Diet Control Diabetes and Its Complications?" is a marvelous example of a paper on diabetes mellitus.

Physical activity is known to be the most effective mechanism in the prevention and treatment of various types of diabetes. Consequently, some studies suggest the encompassing of the latter with a balanced and nutritious diet can even do better. It follows that the outcomes are felt within a short period. The question is can this approach be used alongside prescribed medication to control diabetes and its complications in adult patients in 3 months? This paper is going the answer the above question by describing various conditions and developing a possible action plan.

Evidence-Based Literature

In article 1, the authors apply an evidence-based approach in addressing the issue of diabetes. It correlates the active clinical group practice application to quality requirements and the possible outcomes on adult patients diagnose with diabetes (Gilstrap et al, 2019). Truly, a proper diet is one of the direct control mechanisms individuals can adapt to control the situation. The glucose level with time will drop slowly and reach an optimal and normal level. However, the recovery process in most cases will exceed 3 months. Meanwhile, with proper medication and a nutritious diet along, the condition can be managed within that spell.

Description

The availability of a proper diet is essential in the management strategies of the two types of diabetes. However, in some cases, there is poor orientation and implementation. Below is a case of a patient suffering from diabetes.

Jane, a 38-year old female presented herself in the clinic for the treatment of diabetes. Consequently, the patient has an 8-year history of suffering from two types of diabetes. She decided to look for medical assistance during the first when the signs were prevalent and since then insulin injection has been the main treatment intervention to manage the condition. Apart from that, the patient for four years has experienced multiple sclerosis. However, the condition was rather stable through being injected with interferon. The unpleasing thing is that despite the prior interventions, her diabetes condition is still wanting. Insulin dosage had been injected in her body in large amounts; up to 52 units in the morning and 10-12 units of lispro accompanying each meal. Her glucose levels are also high. Jane thereafter was admitted for an insulin therapy meant to reduce the glucose level. The patient had normal carbon dioxide. Afterward, the daily medical plan was Roxine, glargine, insulin, and metformin. Alongside the medical plan was a daily nutritious diet. Circumstantially, the patient tremendously recovered within 10 weeks. Her hemoglobin and glucose level were at an optimal point (Mobbs et al, 2013).

Action Plan

An effective action plan is effective to manage the diabetic condition of the adult patients within 3 months by applying various medical interventions alongside a balanced diet (McEwen et al, 2012). Meanwhile, a medical practitioner first should adopt the questioning approach using the PICOT format. It helps in summarizing the questions and identifying the required therapy. Secondly, one should search for effective evidence applied utterly on the same occasion to treat the patient. Thirdly the medical plan should encompass the appraisal of the evidence such that the selected approach and diet should be well assessed before being applied to the patient. The next step is to combine the evidence with professional expertise with the patient’s values and preferences. It will provide a general outlook of the problem and how to approach it (Franz et al, 2014). Lastly, the outcome of the practice is evaluated using appropriate approaches. The move is meant to determine the effectiveness of the treatment strategies and diet administered to adult patients suffering from diabetes and if it is achievable in 3 months.

Conclusion

In general, the treatment and management of diabetic conditions can be approached by appropriate medical plans alongside a proper diet. In most cases, the situation takes 6 months to 1 year; however, the addition of the diet on prescribed strategies in the treatment of adult patients can yield positive results within 3 months. Meanwhile, to achieve this there should be an effective action plan which takes into account the essential medical personnel’s professional expertise and the patient’s values and preferences. Such an approach creates an enabling environment to adopt a desired evidence-based approach in the medical sector.
