Extract of sample "Healthcare Access Reform"

It is significant to analyze private health insurance and medical care in terms of their target market. There is discord where some would be compelled to avail of policies that are more than what they need to benefit from incentives which could also restrict health insurance options for others. Since employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) provides incentives to the employer, then the employee has less leeway in choosing a policy. The divergence in products depending on every state creates dissonance which only leads to increased prices for insurers to cover costs. Though more affordable, public insurance creates the bias where some doctors refuse to offer their services to its members. Also, a common argument is on the staggering impact of government funds leading to the conclusion that public insurance is not sustainable (King, 2013).

Nevertheless, the PPACA is an answer to the growing clamour that the United States is going backwards instead of forward in its healthcare coverage, especially in comparison to other developed nations. The law does need a better process of implementation to ensure benefits that are commensurate with the people’s needs. In this regard, each state has the task of overseeing a coherent standard that looks after the general welfare of its population.
