"Affordable Care Act Analysis" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. On February 24, 2014, Jason Song wrote an article featuring how the Los Angeles community colleges are urging students to sign up for Obamacare. The article captures Danielle Alerbt’s story, a student who had an injury to her ankle that was threatening her ability to walk and enjoy recreations such as running and jogging. Covered California is an element of the federal Affordable Care Act and it helped Albert get better medication for her injury. The state was using fairs to get more students enrolling for insurance cover. There is a $95 penalty for those who will not have signed up for the cover by March 31. Federal healthcare overhaul especially through the premiums collected is meant to help effect the success of the White House’s reforms (Song 2014). I think targeting college students for insurance cover is a good way of pushing healthcare reforms. Penalizing students to force them to enroll is not a good way to encourage the effectiveness of the reforms.

            Stephen Dinan wrote on September 11, 2013, observing that there have been fourteen amendments to the healthcare law and many deliberate steps that delay the Affordable Care Act. Dinan wrote when the congressional republicans were demanding for action to be taken on the law and threatened repeal if action was not taken. Whereas Dinan observed that the changes brought about by these amendments are minor and others are meant for clarification, he lamented that fourteen amendments are quite many and unnecessary. In fact, he satirized that the ink used to sign on the original law hardly dried before an amendment was made to it. Dinan submits that both congress and the President have made changes to the law (Dinan 2013). I agree with Dinan that the amendments to the healthcare law are unnecessarily many and the contribution of some is negligible. The law should be implemented and tried to see how much of it works and how much of it will need to be changed.

            Claims and Pear’s assertion that the postponement of the healthcare implementation policy will have undesirable effects is true, especially for employees. Some employees will fall victims to employers who will not accept to lose extra money to medical care covers.
