"Why Food Matters" is a perfect example of a paper on food and nutrition.  The video entitled ‘Food Matters Official Trailer,’ delves into the dangers of unhealthy eating habits as well as the health effects posed by the growing fast-food industry. In this regard, one of the people in the short documentary states that, a quarter of what people keep you alive, while three-quarters of what you eat keep the doctor alive.’ This statement alone points to the gravity of unhealthy eating habits in society. In this regard, there has been a sharp increase in lifestyle diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and obesity. This video is a stark reflection of how fast people are exposing their health at risk and heading towards an untimely death. These unhealthy eating habits are evident from the intake of processed foods such as fries, fried chicken, pizza, burgers, and many more. Evidently, increased consumption of processed foods results into the accumulation of fats and cholesterol that clog vital organs.  For example, processed foods place one at risk of diseases such as diabetes and liver complications. An intake of processed foods makes one at risk of developing a fatty liver due to increased production of insulin by the body. Furthermore, some processed foods contain corn syrup and fructose that can result in diabetes.  The dangers of unhealthy eating habits are further evident due to the deficiency in some primary minerals and vitamins that elicit a negative response by the body. Therefore, unhealthy eating habits can result in health complications such as blindness, cancer, or even cardiac arrest.

It is important to note that these unhealthy eating habits have been fuelled by the availability and spread of fast food joints. Moreover, the advertising and affordable cost of junk food mean that the popularity of junk food is at an all-time high.  Thus people of all age brackets from the young to the old are at high risk of succumbing to unhealthy eating habits.

In conclusion, the video emphasizes that anyone with the will and desire to live a long and full life should avoid the lure of processed junk foods that poses a detrimental effect to one’s health. In this regard, we should all aspire to refrain from junk foods and opt for healthy foods.
