"Monitoring and Evaluating a Newly Established Health Centre" is a great example of a paper on the health system. Supposing I am an appointed manager to spearhead the opening of a new health centre, whose purpose is to serve communities living in a rural setup. My chief duty will be to increase the number of people gaining access to quality health care. The health centre initially will have a twenty-bed capacity to handle inpatient cases. The centre will employ three attending doctors and six nurses working on a day and night rotational program. The health centre will also have a theatre, a diagnostic laboratory and an x-ray room (Swayne, Duncans & Ginter, 2006).

For this strategy to succeed, I will adopt a strategic business unit (SBU)-level monitoring. These will include both financial and non-financial metrics. The metrics will include customer indicators, innovation and internal operations, market segment, patient satisfaction ratings, procedure mortality and clinical outcome measures. Since am not running a for-profit business, I will place more emphasis on the quality of care given to patients. The information obtained from records kept at the health centre and will help us know how best to serve the patients that attend the centre (Moseley, 2009).

During the monitoring stage, it might come to my attention that the bed capacity and the number of attending medics in the health centre is insufficient to handle a large number of patients. To remedy this, I would increase the number of attending health workers by employing more staff. Further, I would push for the extension of the facility to accommodate more patients. This will in turn translate into higher revenues for the centre while at the same time meeting the centre’s core goal of increasing the number of people gaining access to quality health care (Niven, 2006).
