Extract of sample "Healthcare Recruitment and Selection"

"Healthcare Recruitment and Selection" is a great example of a paper on the health system. A recruiting process that is used for the selection of a candidate involves the following steps:
  1. Recruiting approach; Advertising through media.
  2. Recruiting message; Description of the available posts.
  3. Required qualification of applicants; Matching KSA’s (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) of candidates with the available positions.
  4. Administrative procedures; Use of previous applicant’s files, follow-up for applicants.

Recruitment Approaches

Generally, there are four common approaches to recruitment:

  1. Internal recruitment; Current employee referrals, transfer & promotion, etc.
  2. External recruitment; Placement departments of colleges, universities, media sources, employment agencies.
  3. Internet-based Recruitment; Online job postings, E-recruiting methods.

Intriguing Substance

The most intriguing factor which I believe is that recruitment through the internet should be brought into practice widely. The primary advantage is that it is approachable and accessible for a wide range of potential candidates and truly the most cost-effective way of attracting a vast pool of potential job candidates. The pool of applicants can be generated in this manner in a very short time span.

Hamilton and Bowers (2006), in their study, examined the methodological and theoretical aspects of Internet recruitment. They found that in 2004, 111 million people accessed the internet to look for information pertaining to medical and health. Researchers can establish long-lasting principles of interviewing and recruitment to the internet. They address the issues of sample bias, data fraud, flexibility, adequacy, oral versus written communication, timing issues, appropriateness, and consistency in interviewing. They suggest, including qualitative research, designs that are practical in order to employ internet recruitment as well as e-mail interviewing.

Communities like LinkedIn and Branchout also assist in improving contacts through the internet, which provides a platform for both employers and candidates to communicate for the vacant posts and designations.
