"Measuring and Improving Patient Satisfaction" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. Monitoring patient satisfaction is an essential component in healthcare provision; this phenomenon is crucial in a number of ways. One of the roles played by monitoring patient satisfaction is that it helps the healthcare provider to improve on their practice. As a result, patients will be afforded better care, and they will be happier with the services provided by the healthcare practitioner. Monitoring of patient satisfaction is of importance since it shows the patients that the doctor has an interest in the quality of services they provide. Moreover, it helps at looking for ways that can be used to improve the services provided to patients. Another role played by monitoring patient satisfaction is that the data collected on patient satisfaction plays an essential role in empowering the consumers of the services. The opinion of the patient is also essential as it guides the provision of health services in the future (Shelton 1-12).

What are the methodological problems associated with patient satisfaction surveys?

Although patient satisfaction surveys yield data essential in helping to improve service provision, there may be methodological problems associated with patient satisfaction surveys. One of the methodological problems associated with patient satisfaction surveys includes lack of response from the patient. This may hinder the authenticity of the information collected while conducting the surveys. Questions also arise regarding the validity and the credibility of the information collected during the surveys. The surveys may not give valid information that can be relied upon when monitoring patient satisfaction. The methods used may not also cover the entire issues and questions that should be addressed during patient satisfaction surveys (Shelton 1-12).
