GCAA has an air navigation centre at Sheikh Zayed Centre and it is regarded as the most advanced and state-of-the-art navigation centre in the Middle East. GCAA has extensive representation in the Council of the National Aviation Authority (NAA) and it also enjoys membership in the Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) Executive Council (GCAAIT, 2011).

Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) are a set of rules and regulations that are promulgated by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) under the conformation with Article 10 of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) General Civil Aviation Law. Civil Aviation Regulations have huge sub-clauses and details of the laws but one of the most important sub-components of CAR is known as CAR OPS. CAR OPS illustrates the standard operating procedure for any civil aero-plane or civil air traffic that is operating with the intention of commercial air transport and business purposes. CAR OPS have different revised versions for example the above-mentioned clause is according to CAR-OPS 1 whereas necessary provisions for helicopters are added in the latest version CAR-OPS 3 (UAE GCAA, 2008).

Federal Aviation Regulations are a set of protocols designed and formulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to govern all aviation activities in the United States. Federal Aviation Regulations are a part of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) of the United States (Faa.gov, 2013) FAR is responsible for multiple matters in the regulation of the general and cargo air traffic. From the design protocols of the plane, the hot air ballooning systems, and the daily traffic standard operating procedures to pilot training programs, risk assessment and reduction, passenger safety, and emergency response actions, FAR govern the minute matters that are involved in the air traffic process.

The design of FAR is to the rules of CFR. There is a hierarchical structure of FAR and its sub-components are called parts. Each “part” is concerned with a specific kind of activity related to the air traffic process. For instance 14 CFR Part 141 deals with training of the pilots and its related institutions. Every FAR component deals with a specific matter and department of air traffic and there are necessary revisions in the law from time to time to meet the contemporary and emerging changes in the aviation industry and sops. FAR is divided into thousand of separate sections. The usability of FAR is immense as it ensures the smooth running of air traffic in the United States. The importance of FAR increased after the September 11 attacks (Ecfr.gov, 1996).
