The hand book sets forth a company’s expectations towards its employees and as well as describes what the employees can expect from the company. In brief, the employee handbook is a detailed document of the company’s business guidelines, the procedures, and the expectations of the company towards its employees. It is extremely essential for a company to have an employee handbook that is precise, clear and free of any ambiguity as possible. The actual policies and mandates incorporated in an employee handbook differs from one business organisation to the other, usually depending the kind of business the company is involved in, the size of the company and number of employees employed by the company.

However, without any regard to the complexity or the size of the business, a business should include policies such as work-flow and job analysis policy that will surmise the most important and the intricate interests of the firm through which the mechanisms of the company can be fully understood by the employees and hence be able to contribute more. The objective of a Human Resource consulting or a management firm is to provide a strategic as well as logical approach to the management of an organisation’s most valued resource, i.e. the people working in an organisation who collectively or individually contribute to the attainment of an organisation’s objectives.

In addition to strategic management approach to human resource of an organisation another important criteria of HR firm is to help business firms in recruiting people that will best suit the requirements of the organisation, in brief, finding the right people for the right organisations and vice-versa. As a strategic partner to a small business firms with four to ten employees, it is imperative for the HR firm to do a work-flow analysis of the business firm as it will assist in understanding the dynamics of the business, hence providing the means of
