Essay Can these two seemingly incompatible approaches be integrated into productive problem solving? Creativity can be meshed along with problem solving in a manner which requires tact and useful insight by the person who is making use of these two approaches. The end result can be imagined as being one which will facilitate the overall result of the undertaking. Productive problem solving could be had if there is negotiation between the two approaches since the result at the finish is the same for both the approaches. When it has been drawn up that the consequence for both the efforts is one, then efforts must be employed as a whole so that there are no dropouts as far as incorporation of creative skills and problem solving abilities is concerned. 2. Do Problem Solving and/or Decision Making processes outlined in the chapters hinder creativity... or actually promote it? Be specific; how so? Creativity can only be hindered if the creative person thinks he is being led into hindrance. Since he is a creative person, he must understand that the rules of decision making and problem solving are there to assist his creative abilities and not to take anything away from his self belief and creativity. If the energies are exerted in a positive manner, then there is no shadow of a doubt that these decision making and problem solving approaches would work to the advantage of the creative process which is all about understanding and comprehension of a subject or matter. The out of the box approach could be fastened up if the principles of problem solving and decision making are followed in a methodical manner. 3. Think of creative people you know. Provide specific examples. Are they good group members? Creative persons are usually not very good group members but what is good about them is that they analyze things from different perspectives and ways. It gives them a better picture of the overall process than a single side of the story which a commoner might have. The creative people that I know are divided into the set of being good group members as well as the ones who are not social and hence do not make for a good read when the talk goes out loud of working within a single group, for the betterment of the group nonetheless. The girl ABC that I know is a good group member when she works in unison with different people yet she is creative out and out. My friend XYZ does not like to mingle with people yet his creative thinking abilities are undoubtedly the best in the advertising industry. It is all a matter of different people working in different settings. The important thing is to get the best work out of them no matter whatever their personal likes and dislikes are. 4. Consider, perhaps, what it is you think makes people creative. Is there a difference between creativity and flakiness? The thing which makes people creative is the fact that they do and act differently from the rest of the population around them. Thus there is ample opportunity for them to demonstrate what difference they can make towards the society in their own respective capacities. People are termed creative when they are best at what they do and there are no parallels whatsoever. There is a difference between creativity and flakiness since creativity innovates something from scratch and flakiness looks to criticize for the sake of criticism alone and nothing else. - Role(s) demonstrated by individual group members to this point. It is likely that an individual assumed more than one at certain points Sue Carroll Sue Carroll has one thing to his advantage. It is the creativity he has within him. He knows how to play with words and how to get words in proper manner. Proof reading is indeed an art, somewhat close to copywriting and the like and hence the creative juices are definitely flowing on Sue’s side. What he lacks is patience. Thus it makes him a completely difficult customer as far as problem solving and decision making ability is concerned. He loses interest and thus would lose track when the going will get tough. It is best advised to let him remain a creative person and keep him away from the problem solving skills since it is not his domain. There is an ability of Sue to look back at things which have been done in the past which suggests that he has all the facets that make a person creative. Creative people usually go back in the past and analyze things from different perspectives and luckily for Sue, this is present within him. Mary Fernandez Since Mary knows how to get mediations done in a cordial way, she is the person who knows how to handle people tactfully. In other words, she is the one who knits the basis of the whole group. Mary can make for a good leader since she understands the psyche of the group members and this suggests of her as an interesting personality. Mary might not be that creative but then she knows her game and that is what is more important. Her ability to keep jovial suggests that she likes to take things easy and can be a good problem solver all said and done. Jeff Ferrara He is the serious kind of person within the group and wants to remain focused on the work and nothing else. It is best advised to keep him away from the creative processes and his concentration should be more towards getting things done. He can be an astute problem solver as he understands his work and accords priority to it. Christine Stetler Christine is the leader who knows how to lend an ear to each and everyone within the group. She is the creative type who comes up with the most brilliant of ideas usually each time. Her personality is her strength as she relies on the basis of its strength. Her opinions go down well with the group members and she is regarded as having both the brains and the wits, meaning she can be a good problem solver and a creative person at the same time. - Role that you have fulfilled to this point. Letitia Nawrocki I think I have been unable to contribute towards the cause of the group thus far. I know from within that I can become a true leader, only if provided a chance. Since I was absent in the first class, this could not happen. However I do not have any regrets and look forward to working cohesively with the group members for the cause that we have to accomplish under the leadership of Christine. I appreciate what each and every member within the group is doing but I would like my own role to be checked upon in detail again since I believe I could contribute in a better manner if a proper chance is granted to me. I believe that the project that we as a group are undertaking has become too serious and monotonous at the same time and thus I demand a bit of breather for all of us. May be we can explore our creative juices just a little bit and then get back to work. We need to look at things in a different setting and for that to happen, I believe we should just sit together and talk – not for the accomplishment of the project at hand but the manner in which we will complete the project in a successful yet enjoyable manner. I believe we could give in our best if we work in a fun filled manner which does not have boredom within its regimes and seriousness does not make the rounds of our group meetings.
