When I learnt about this scholarship, I knew that it would give me the chance that I had been waiting for to fulfill my dreams and achieve my goals in life. I am particularly interested in this scholarship because I believe it will give me the opportunity to watch my ambitions and dreams come to reality. I believe this scholarship will give me the chance to increase my knowledge in science and improve people’s quality of life, as I take part in experiments that will enable them live longer and fuller lives. In addition, this opportunity will give me hands on experience in research and the exposure I will get from interacting with experts in science as I study will enable me be the best I can be in this field of science.
As a biologist, I believe that science has the answer to almost every question and for those that have no answer, science is yet to unravel. In order to develop as a society and give people hope in life, we need science. Take for instance, the dreaded disease; cancer. Many years back, everyone believed that cancer is incurable but thanks to biologists who try their best to improve the quality of people’s lives – there is now hope for cancer patients and genetic research has played an important role in this. I also believe that people’s lost hope in life can be recovered if scientists are given the chance to do it.
My interest has made me do a lot of reading on several experiments and literatures, making me appreciate science. In fact, I have not missed a single publication on statistics on cancer, much the same way as I have sought counsel from those who have been in the lead – researchers, doctors, statisticians among others. They have guided me, criticized my work and overall, set credible benchmarks for my work. In turn, my interest has increased and science has become part of my life for I now view life from a scientific viewpoint. The reading has made me value the efforts scientists are putting in to come up with better diagnostic
