Poster Design/Typography - Essay Example

I am deeply influenced by the works of Max Kissman and Reg Mombasso. Their illustrative and typographic styles have had a big influence on me. Max Kissman’s works are a great inspiration and the way he combines innovation and design to come up with great logos and posters is education in itself. The way he uses type design and type glyphs in his work is interesting and I want to be able to develop those abilities and be able to convey the messages through my designs. Reg Mombassa on the other hand is very famous for his work and I am deeply impressed by the way how he can interpret political, cultural and religious themes through his mostly cartoonish design.

The way he uses vivid colors in his designs is amazing. I am eager to build on my skills and learn the various ways in which the above and many more famous designers are able to do innovative and marvelous work. I hope to be able to take things a step further into motion graphics using Flash and/or Adobe After Effects. This is going to be a challenging task and with the current skills that I pose, it is not going to be any easier. Hence, I am looking at this opportunity with Hertfordshire University to build on my current skills and develop new skills that will help to be more successful in my profession and will give me competitive edge in today’s professional world.

I want to be equipped with skills that will allow me to develop a range of short animations based on my studies, which can be included in the health service web site. The various resources that I would need to develop the required skills are expert guidance from the university faculty, exposure to professional and industrial work scenarios, access to various academic sources of the university that would be applicable to my filed of research, guidance on various softwares that are essential in designing, opportunity to interact with other designers, etc. I am
