With his or her knees being unbent, the practitioner should raise his or her arms corresponding to the ground. At this angle, the practitioner should ensure that he or she has stretched his or her right foot to the outside, and his or her left stretched towards the 45 degrees angle (Bryan, Pinto, & Parasher, 2011). As noted in the picture the arms, should stretch outwards to the sides, with the palm being perpendicular to the ground. The trunk should be stretched as far as possible to the right while still placing the palm at the floor.

At this position, the left arm should be extended vertically upwards, which would ensure that the backside is slightly twisted counterclockwise. The practitioner should use his or her left arm, which is vertically stretched to act as a lever. The left arm acts as a lever; thereby, stretching the arm away from one another. At this point, the head of the practitioner is usually to the left arm, which intensifies the left tilt. The individual should remain in this posture for 30 seconds to 1 minute (Mircea, 2009).

The individual should inhale to come up, sturdily exerting pressure on the back heel on the floor while stretching the top arm in the direction of the ceiling. Turn around the feet, and repeat the same, with the exact period to the left. The benefits of Utthita Trikonasana include; lengthening back and legs, relieving stress, relieves back pain and balances a person. The drawback includes; it can cause injuries if not done properly (Gregor, 2011). In conducting Utthita Parsvakonasana, the individual should stand in Tadasana.

The Utthita Parsvakonasana is carried out in both in the left and the right. To start, the practitioner should start by standing apart. Starting with any foot, preferably the left foot, the practitioner should turn the foot to the right. The practitioner should stretch the right foot outwards to the right in 90 degrees. Align the right and left heel together (Cowen, 2010). As shown in the picture,
