Why I which to Pursue Master of Science in Nursing The demand for graduate degree in the job market has influenced my perception towards education. Many employers feel that an individual has to acquire graduate degree or higher education in order to qualify to serve in a particular cadre. Stagnation in career field demoralizes because an individual does not feel that the position he or she holds commensurate to his or her experience in a particular career. Our education system prepares a person towards a particular career. After high school, I chose a college, which offered courses related to my career choice. This choice responded to my objectives, which I had set during the early stages of life. A review of the previous goals in life leads to a positive response towards job stagnation, which occurs because an individual does not posses the required qualification in a particular field. Need for expertise in a particular field of trade dictates my individual’s crave for graduate education. It is apparent that the education curriculum offers education skills according to certain levels. For instance, certificate course and diploma courses offer basic skills in a particular field of interest. Bachelors’ degree offers a general content of what an individual needs to know in a particular field. In response to these facets of education curriculum, I have to pursue a graduate degree in order to acquire in depth information and skills in a particular area of study. This would enhance my ability to perform certain tasks in my area of trade. It is evident that higher education predisposes an individual to a wide range of technical problems that one is likely to face or meet during his career practice. Another reason that leads to graduate studies is money factor. Every person work in order to lead a sustainable life. The dream of leading a sustainable life comes when one has acquired higher education. Specific Interests and My Future Work To begin with, my present qualifications do not match my academic goals, career objectives, and personal interest. In addition to this, I wish to pursue Master of Science in Nursing with a particular interest in adults. My work as a nurse has exposed me to challenges and I know the challenges that we face as nurses. Though these challenges made me strong, I feel that nursing degree is not enough to handle adult issues in the nursing career. Sometimes I meet challenges when handling adults and I feel that I would have done better if I had the much needed skilled offered in graduate training. My pride as a nurse is to offer a quality service and respond to medical problems facing adults. I have observed during my tenure as a nurse that the society bestows a lot of respect to the nurses. I usually receive calls at wee hours of the night when I should be in slumber because of the trust the society has placed upon my hands. I know I cannot be able to respond to some technical problems without acquiring graduate education. My interest in adult studies is because our country has a few graduate nurses who have specialized in complication facing adults. Some complexities that affect the adults are much easier to solve if I had the required education. I know one may question my expertise as a nurse, however, I wish to respond this by stating that I have three years experience, practicing as a nurse. I have observed very many complex problems in this profession and I am convinced that bachelor’s degree is not enough. When I meet challenges in my profession, I usually call my mentor. She is a graduate nurse who has specialized in adult issues. I wish to mention that on many occasions that I have sought her help I have been able to see the difference between expertise knowledge and experience. She combines her expertise and experience to evaluate and tackle a problem that we present to her. I believe that a combination of expertise and experience would give a perfect match for my career. Specialization in issues facing adults would be advantageous to me because it offers flexibility in nursing profession. Flexible careers are satisfactory compared to inflexible career. Graduate degree would me that I can take various assignments about various patients in various locations. This makes my choice more interesting. I have observed that graduate nurses have greater roles to perform in the society. Functions conducted by graduate nurses in various hospitals include coordination of nurses’ activities. The position demand skills and expertise that one gains through education. I usually compare what I see in my environment and what ought to be in my environment. I have noted that a junior nurse, who trained after me earned more salary than I do because she had acquired graduate degree in nursing. I realized that employers do not only look at the number of years a person has been practicing, but they also look at the amount of education that a person has. Remuneration for graduate nurses is attractive because they specialized in various fields. I know that good remuneration does not come with substance. I think this should not imply that my interest is to acquire huge salary. People settle in different careers because of interest and the benefit they are likely to get from their career. Salary factor usually compensate individual‘s input in the society. For instance, it is against natural law when I get high pay while my senior gets a get shoddy pay. I believe that increase in my salary will influence my approach to life. I have noted that many employers are craving to find specialized graduate nurses in adult issue. I know that fortunes to do come twice in a lifetime. I do not wish to subject my fate to taste. Instead, I wish to pursue graduate nursing degree in order to change my life. The society gauge people according to the amount of influence they exert in the society. This view has influenced me towards pursuing a master’s degree. Technical skills required in the nursing career depend on the amount of training. Graduate degree training builds a nurse with various technical skills applicable in advance stages of the career. I wish to compare my case to nurses attending to causality in ICU. Many hospitals offering ICU services feel that nurses attending to ICU patients need the right specialization. This criterion has influenced many employers to think of employing nursing with various specializations. The modern era does not admit general abilities. Distinct issues have taken a centre role in the nursing career. I feel that I should be part of the specialized team that handles intricate issues in the health sector. Specialization offers a vast knowledge about a particular interest. This enables an individual to post exemplary performance. Senior positions in medical career depend on individual’s competence. This means that graduate course is mandatory to anybody thinking of a senior post. This dream is a distance a way because I have to make the formidable step and go for it. Policies in the government are likely to change, who knows? I feel that many people in the society have missed great chances to change their life conditions because of the inadequate skills at their disposal. I hope that my ambition to join the graduate nursing school would help transform the society. I know that some people think that one drop in an ocean does not make a difference. I believe it will bring change because the move that I make today would influence another nurse tomorrow. This will influence the number of graduate nurses and the society would change. Science needs experiments and some supportive evidence towards what we practice. I would be lying to the society when I can only prescribe my medication approach using information I learnt in the past generation. I believe that pursuing a graduate degree, which specializes, on adult issues I would have brought a difference in my career. In a summary, my interest in graduate nursing degree aims at bringing hope to the adults in the society. I have mentioned other factors such as good salary, expertise, and flexibility. However, my dream of serving the society and bringing hope to the society would come true when I go back to class to address the needs of the adults in the society. I believe that specializing in adult program would help in reducing unsolved cases of adult complexities. In summary, it is in my interest to work directly with people, one among the many reasons I have decided to take this path. To me, nursing is a life profession since once considered a nurse, the nursing aspect remains for life. The fact that I have always wanted to see the world around me better inspires me to seek for a masters program for it shall help influence the manner of my action and thinking hence impact the world.
