In the Imogene King Theory of Goal Attainment, King based it on four major aspects. First and foremost, the pertinent nurse-patient relationship ensures better attainment of health.Secondly, the patient and the nurse should develop a need to understand each other mutually. Thirdly, both the patient's and the nurse’s goals should be similar and in alignment with each other. Lastly, it is the duty of the nurse to utilize their knowledge and skills to establish the relationship and the set of goals (Adib-Hajbaghery & Tahmouresi, 2018).

The researcher would, therefore, apply this theory in their workplace by establishing relationships with their patients in order to improve their health and well-being.In nurse-patient relationship theory, the issue of culture may pose a challenge. This is because of the various cultures that are known to shun the healthcare systems. Hence, it may be quite difficult for a nurse to establish a relationship with a patient whose perceptions may be deeply rooted in their cultures. Cultures are known to influence an individual's level of perceptions.

These perceptions then end up influencing their functional status (Caceres, 2015).Caceres (2015) further argued that patients may end up having a different functional set of goals, based on their cultural beliefs.
